On Our Wedding Night, She Told Me My Husband Will Betray Chapter 05

Ethan started calling and texting.

He said it was just a lesson. Said I shouldn’t throw away everything we had over one mistake.

I blocked every single number.

The ghost appeared, paler than before. Her tears fell and evaporated before they could land.

“Ellie. He is not worth it.”

I looked down and said nothing.

Next morning I dragged myself to my 8 a.m. class. Staying busy was better than thinking.

But the second I sat down and checked my phone, it froze.

Then everything hit at once. A flood of texts and missed calls.

I answered one.

“Hey, Ellie Bennett? Heard you’re into group stuff. Is there still an open slot?”

I hung up. Blocked the number.

A friend had forwarded a link. “Ellie, is this you?? What happened?”

“Talk to me. If something happened, you have to tell me.”

I clicked it.

Me, last night, at that bar. They’d filmed everything.

The comments were already hundreds deep.

“Wow, I had no idea she was like this. Sign me up.”

“Didn’t think a girl like that would be into it.”

“I was there. It was… yeah.”

Each one landed like something physical. My vision blurred. I couldn’t stop shaking.

That’s why they’d been looking at me like that all morning when I came through the gate.

“Ellie, give me the phone.”

Ethan yanked it out of my hand before I could react.

He powered it off and draped his jacket over my shoulders.

I pulled it off and handed it back. The smell of liquor clung to it. It made me sick.

I looked him in the eye.

“Why, Ethan? Why would you do this to me?”

“What do you want? For me to repay you for saving my life? Is that it?”

My eyes were desperate. He caught my hands in both of his.

“Ellie, I didn’t—”

“That video wasn’t me. I got it taken down. I swear.”

I pulled my hands away. Something in me had already broken.

“I just wanted to shake you up a little. I never wanted to destroy you.”

“Just promise me you’ll stop going after Lily.”

I cut him off.

“We’re done, Ethan. I already told my dad to break off the engagement.”

He went still.
