My Villainess Script Has A Glitch Chapter 04

I went home, showered, and slept straight through to noon the next day.

I woke up rested, but starving. I went downstairs to get something to eat — and found Nathaniel.

He was at the dining table with Mom, making pies. Dad was in the kitchen making the filling.

Mom waved me over without looking up. “Get over here and help. I don’t know what you were doing last night — you came home and passed out.”

She nodded toward Nathaniel. “Look at him — he showed up and got straight to work.”

Nathaniel had his sleeves rolled up, working like he belonged there. I had no idea why he was here.

[The male lead is too good for these people. He left the hotel yesterday and went straight to work cleaning up the Kensingtons’ mess.]

[And then he shows up here with a bunch of gifts. If the side character finds out, she’s just going to get even clingier and more insufferable.]

[Chloe’s parents are actually sweet. Too bad their daughter almost tanked the entire family.]

[Every time the male lead does something for her family, she just sits there acting like she’s owed it. Where does she get the nerve?]

[One’s a spoiled princess who’s never worked a day in her life. The other’s smart, gorgeous, and actually considerate. Not a hard choice.]

Instead of jumping in the way I usually did, I sat down. “Mom, since when do we put guests to work?”

Dad stuck his head out of the kitchen. “Hey — he’s not a guest, he’s family.”

Mom waved me off. “If anyone’s the guest here, it’s you. Everything you touch turns into a disaster.”

I pointed at the lopsided pies on the table, their crusts already cracking. “Those look fine to me.”

Nathaniel frowned, watching me with an unreadable expression.

Back then, I was immature. I treated Nathaniel like he belonged to me and forced my way into his space without caring what he wanted.

When he shut me down, I’d sulk for a couple of days, then go right back to chasing him. I told myself that growing up together had to mean something. That at the very least, there was no one else in his life but me.

That was over now. I was done lying to myself.
