My Sister Couldn’t Tame Her Alpha? Fine. I’ll Do It! Chapter 06

Auriel wasn’t done yet.

She pushed herself up, my handprint still red on her face, and turned to look at Corvax.

“You knelt at my parents’ grave. You swore you’d protect me Her voice shook. “And now you’re just standing there while she hits me in front of the entire pack? What would my mom think? What would my dad say if he saw this?”

The crowd shifted. I felt the wind turning back. Dead heroes always beat a slap in the face.

My stomach sank.

“You’re right.”

Corvax said those three words.

“So let’s let the truth speak for itself.” He tilted his head slightly. “Circe.”

Someone stepped out from the tree line. The pack’s witch, footsteps silent, carrying a leather pouch. The crowd parted automatically.

Circe opened her palm. Right in the center sat a moonstone shard, gray-white, cracks threaded with silver. She closed her fist.

The stone shattered. Silver light spread like smoke across the entire clearing.

Then the vision appeared.

Auriel’s face, crystal clear. Her fingers gripping my arm. Her voice dropping low-whose name do you think he screams first-then both hands slamming into my back. The cliff edge giving way. My whole body falling into darkness.

Every wolf in Wintermaw saw it. The image hung in the air for three or four seconds before it faded.

Nobody spoke. Auriel’s face turned gray as paper.

An older she-wolf in the pack cleared her throat. “She lost her parents young… maybe we should be a little forgiving-”

“Who was forgiving to my wife?” Corvax’s voice wasn’t loud, but every word hit the ground like a hammer. “She drove here alone to a strange territory, to a pack she’d never met. First day, she gets framed. Gets pushed off a cliff. She clawed her way back up by herself. And the first thing she heard was her own pack calling her a liar,”

He turned to look at Auriel.

“Your parents gave their lives so others could live. That sacrifice deserves respect-not to be used as your weapon.” He paused. “From today on, you’ll still get everything the pack owes you. But I’m done being your guardian. Stop using their names to chain me down.”

He took my hand. We left.

Behind us, Auriel screamed something. I didn’t catch it. Corvax didn’t look back.

Back in the house, he sat me down, poured me something hot then crouched in front of me and started cleaning the cuts on my hands. His hands were steady.

“I let her get too close for too long.” He didn’t look up. “I thought protecting her was how I honored her parents. Didn’t see what it was doing.”

I watched him wrap cloth strips around my palms. For a guy built like him, his touch was surprisingly gentle.

After he finished, he didn’t let go. His thumb traced the edge of the bandage, then moved to my wrist, pressing against my pulse. He just stayed there like that, crouched down, head lowered, my hand held between both of his.

Then he leaned forward. His lips brushed the inside of my wrist-then moved up. Forearm. Shoulder. Neck.

His breath landed on the skin below my ear. Warm.

“You sure about this?” My voice came out rougher than I expected. “Once you bite down, there’s no returns.”

He lifted his head. His mouth was close to my neck. “When you bit me at the ceremony, you didn’t ask if I agreed

either.”

My face felt hot. “That was different. That was impulse.”

“Then let me be impulsive too.”

His teeth sank into my skin. A wave of heat rolled through-mot pain. Something deeper. Like wires connecting.

I could feel him now. Not just his breathing, but the emotions underneath, clear as day, a line that didn’t exist a second ago.

Oh. So this is what a mate bond’s supposed to feel like.

His forehead rested against my shoulder. My fingers gripped the fabric at his lower back. That line between us hummed-new, fragile, but impossible to ignore.

I grabbed his chin and tilted his face up.

“Auriel or anyone else in the future. If another woman tries to squeeze between us, what happened on that cliff today will look polite.”

He laughed. Low. Caught my fist before I could punch his shoulder.

“Yes, Luna.” His thumb rubbed across my knuckles.

“Alright-I can feel your heartbeat through the bond now. Can you stop being mad for a second and let me actually enjoy this?”
