The moment Mr. Thompson finished, the party went dead quiet.

Blaise’s mind went blank.

He rushed over to Mr. Thompson, his face twisted with

anger.

“That’s impossible. Sable can’t be married!”

Mr. Thompson looked at him.

“I witnessed the wedding myself. How could it be impossible?”

Then he turned to the stunned Clayborn family, his voice stern.

“You’re her family. You should know better. You don’t even know who she married.”

“You caused this whole mess and put that poor girl through hell for nothing.”

The townspeople at the party started whispering among themselves.

“Then who did she marry?”

“Exactly. She waited all these years and suddenly gets married out of nowhere? Who’s going to believe that?”

Mr. Thompson calmly faced the crowd.

“She married Callum Mercer.”

“His ice house lasted the night. He already filed the proposal with the Town Council.”

The room erupted.

“Callum Mercer? Him?”

“I heard he’s doing really well in the city. Why would a guy like that want Sable? Nobody in town would even marry her.”

Mr. Thompson’s expression hardened.

“The town records already approved it. There’s no way it was faked.”

“Watch your mouths. Don’t spread lies about Sable.”

Then he turned to Sable’s pale parents.

“Sable agreed to be removed from the family records. You can go ahead and add Maris.”

Maris looked down, barely hiding a smile.

Then Blaise knocked a glass off the table.

“I don’t believe this. Sable can’t be married. I won’t allow it!”

He was furious.

Mr. Thompson’s expression turned cold.

“Callum built his ice house according to tradition and proposed formally. She said yes.”

“Who exactly are you to say she can’t marry him?”

“Don’t forget. You’re Maris’s husband now.”

Blaise was left speechless.

The townspeople began whispering too.

“Exactly. They already registered their marriage. What right does he have to interfere with Sable

now?”

“Does he want a wife at home and Sable on the side?”

The comments got worse.

Dad and Mom had to end the party early.

The second everyone left, Blaise bolted for the door.

Maris grabbed his arm.

“Blaise, don’t do anything rash. Something about this doesn’t add up. Maybe Sable just wants to make you panic.”

“She never even mentioned knowing Callum. How could she suddenly marry him?”

Dad and Mom finally snapped out of it.

Brennan looked disgusted.

“She’s doing this to get back at us. She probably got Mr. Thompson to play along.”

“She loved Blaise for seven years. There’s no way she’d fall for someone else.”

Mom’s face turned red with anger.

“She went this far just to throw a tantrum? She made us a laughingstock!”

Dad was furious too.

“That ungrateful girl probably ran back to the old family house. I’ll go get her tomorrow and straighten her out.”

Listening to them, Blaise calmed down.

They were right.

Sable had loved him for seven years.

Seven years of love couldn’t just disappear overnight.

This had to be some kind of stunt to make him jealous.

The night passed in a blur.

The next morning, Blaise went with the Clayborns to the old house.

But the yard was empty.

No sign of Sable.

Just as they stood there wondering, a neighbor came back from town, grinning.

“What are you all doing here?”

“Sable and Callum are getting married in town right now. The whole place is packed.”

“How do you not know about this?”
