Its CEO was an exceptional woman who ran everything with flawless efficiency.

“Sophia and Bennett had a falling-out because of Jasmine. She thought Bennett had cheated on her, so she left divorce papers behind and took off. From what I can see on her Instagram, she’s living the good life, and Bennett’s running all over the world trying to win her back.”

“If you ask me, Bennett just had terrible luck. He crossed paths with a lunatic.”

Thinking of the story those two had lived through in my last life, I only replied, “Who knows.”

I lay there in the lightly salted sea breeze while Quinn sat beside me, absentmindedly sipping coconut water.
