My Roommate Stole My Past-Life Hack—I’ll Just Smile at Her Regret Chapter 03

Ever since our rebirth, Jasmine had been burning to prove she was better than me.

Our grades had originally been about the same. After we got our powers, I studied even harder, fought my way to the top of our year, and locked down a direct-admit spot for grad school.

That was the beginning of my success in my last life.

Jasmine, on the other hand, learned how to get what she wanted without working for it. Her ambitions lay elsewhere, so she barely scraped through her exams with low scores.

This time, with double the time on her side, she was determined to work hard. At the very least, she was going to leave me in the dust when it came to GPA.

The problem was that Jasmine had not truly worked hard in ten years. She had long forgotten how. Even with double time running, she spent a while scrolling on her phone, then snacking, then doing anything except studying.

When the exams got close, she finally panicked and crammed hard for a few days.

Maybe having twice the time gave her twice the confidence.

Before we went into the exam room, Jasmine shot me a contemptuous look. “Natalie, men can’t take your exams for you.”

I had more important things on my mind, so her words went in one ear and out the other.

She could yap all she wanted. None of it touched me anyway.

Right before winter break, our class rep posted the final grades in the group chat.

Jasmine had indeed done well.

That evening, when I walked back into the dorm, I heard her loudly reading my score out on purpose.

“Well, well, Natalie. Running out early and coming back late every day, getting private tutoring from the top student, and you still only barely passed.”

That only made her more certain that my success in my last life had all come from the blue pill’s double-time ability.

I ignored her. My score had already been exactly what I expected.

I only studied in the mornings. My afternoons and evenings had all gone into market research.

The only reason I had asked the top student for help was to make sure I passed my classes and graduated on time.

The moment I swallowed the red pill after being reborn, I gave up on the whole GPA-grind route.

I was never especially gifted to begin with, so why should I throw myself into chasing more academic credentials?

People should learn to play to their strengths. My biggest advantage was being able to increase men’s favor toward me.

Just a little extra goodwill could get me access to resources I had never been able to touch in my last life.

I decided to start a business.

Once finals were over, I threw myself completely into building it.

In the mornings, I played badminton with the student government president. At noon, I had lunch with an underclassman from the art department.

In the afternoons, I sat in coffee shops with a computer science upperclassman while he coded. At night, I lingered outside bars, looking for off-campus trust-fund guys.

Campus was only so big, so Jasmine ran into me a few more times.

She was convinced I was doing exactly what she had done in my last life, trying to climb upward by cozying up to men.

Whenever we crossed paths back in the dorm, she always had to take a jab at me. “Natalie, your taste in men is trash too. Look at the losers you’re picking. None of them are even good enough for my standards.”

In my last life, Jasmine had only two standards when it came to men. They had to be handsome or rich.

Oh, and there was also the top student she used as a convenient little tool.

I glanced coolly at the desk piled high with her study materials.

After finals, Jasmine’s motivation to study dropped off hard.

Every day, she went on about how she was going to the library, but she always ended up sleeping until the afternoon, eating while binge-watching shows, and only pulling out her materials at night to pretend to look at them for a few minutes.

At this point in my last life, I had already lined up a faculty lab position and joined a research team.

“Jasmine, since you’ve got so much extra time, maybe use some of it to eat a little more and grow yourself a brain.”
