My Mom’s Low-Cal Meals Killed Me In My Past Life Chapter 06

My Mom’s Low-Cal Meals Killed Me In My Past Life Chapter 06

She got up to shut the door, but I stopped her.

I picked up the remote and turned on the smart TV, pulling up our home security app.

“Everyone should take a good look at what they were doing during those five hours.”

On the screen, I placed the suicide note on the corner of the coffee table, then walked out the door.

The instant I left, the lights in the apartment snapped on.

Mom and Serena came out of their rooms one after the other.

They looked at the note on the table, exchanged a glance, and then burst into loud guffaws.

For five whole hours, neither of them looked for me at all.

Only at the very end did they run out into the hallway shouting, putting on a heartbroken

performance in front of everyone.

The neighbors stared at the footage, mouths open in shock.

“Denise, why would you do that?”

“Lainey may not be able to take care of herself right now, but you still can’t just let her go die. She’s your child.”

Mom sank to the floor and wailed. Serena crouched beside her, softly comforting her.

“Yes. I was tired of Lainey. I was sick of her. She was greedy, disobedient, and she let herself get this huge. Every day, I had to do her laundry, cook her food, clean her after she used the bathroom, bathe her, turn her over in bed. I couldn’t see the end of that life, and I couldn’t take it anymore.”

Mom cried so pitifully that the neighbors actually began to soften.

“To be fair, anyone with a child like Lainey would feel desperate. I can understand Denise.”

“Lainey, your mom was pushed to her limit. If you had just lost weight properly, none of this would have happened.”

“Forgive your mom. She really had no other choice.”

Listening to them persuade me, I let out a few cold laughs.

“Do you really think I didn’t want to lose weight? It was Mom. She never wanted me to lose weight.”

Everyone froze, disbelief written across their faces.

“How is that possible? I’ve seen the healthy meals she made.”

“Exactly. Serena lost so much weight because of Denise. I think you’re just trying to make excuses

again.”

“And didn’t she tell you to get gastric sleeve surgery? How does that mean she didn’t want you to lose weight?”

Their doubts were understandable. After all, I had been kept in the dark too.

I walked into the middle of the crowd and said, “Serena didn’t lose weight because of the meal

prep.”

At those words, Mom’s and Serena’s faces changed at once, the color draining from their lips.

I ignored them and continued.

“Everyone knows Serena and I supposedly have à serious genetic obesity disorder. Ordinary methods couldn’t make either of us slim down.”

“Then why did Serena lose all that weight after only one month of eating ordinary low-calorie meals? Didn’t any of you find that strange?”

The neighbors began whispering.

“Now that she says it, it is a little strange.”

“Could there really be something else going on?”

I took two things out of my bag. A medicated body bar and a bottle of pills.

Serena’s expression turned tense, and she tried to get up and snatch them from me. I shoved her

away.

“These two things are the real reason Serena lost weight.”

I carried them around in front of the neighbors, letting everyone examine them carefully.

“This body bar softens fat cells. If someone uses it for a two-hour shower every day, the fat cells

throughout the body become easier to process.”

“And when it’s paired with the pills in this bottle, it reduces the excess fat-cell volume.”

My gaze landed on Serena. She frowned and glared at me with sheer malic.

“Serena, am I right?”

Humiliated and furious, Serena snapped, “So what if you are? Mom loves me more. She was willing

to give them to me.”

The neighbors shook their heads the room, her shoulders slumped in mock exhaustion.

“Denise, that’s going too far. Why would you give it only to Serena and not Lainey? She’s your child

too.”

“You misled all of us into thinking Lainey was just a greedy girl sneaking food. You don’t deserve to call yourself her mother.”

Mom sat collapsed on the floor, her face full of misery.

“I’m sorry, Lainey. Please forgive me, okay? We’re poor. We only had enough money for Serena to use this medication. Don’t worry. I’ll work hard and earn more, and I’ll make sure you get it too.”

“Enough,” I cut her off sharply.

“Mom, did you forget? You gave me a medicated body bar and a bottle of pills too. But after I used them, I gained weight even faster.”

Her crying stopped abruptly.

The expression on her face suddenly turned monstruously cold.
