My Mate Killed Me For My Sister, I Became Luna Of His Enemy Chapter 19

My Mate Killed Me For My Sister, I Became Luna Of His Enemy Chapter 19 A New Era

Bella’s POV

I didn’t wait for the dust to settle. In my experience, the moment you give people time to hesitate, they find reasons to resist.

The moment Silas was out of view, I turned to the crowd.

“The Howling Moon Pack has been leaderless for longer than you know,” I said. The crowd pressed closer. “Silas failed you. Madison lied to you. And I…”

I paused. I looked across the faces of wolves who’d once ignored me. The one who had laughed at me when I fell at the banquet. The ones who had cheered when the guards dragged me away to the dungeon.

They weren’t laughing now.

“I am what’s left,” I told them. “And I declare myself the new Alpha of the Howling Moon Pack.”

I’d defeated the sitting alpha in formal combat. The fight had been witnessed by the Elders. The title was mine by the law.

The Elders confirmed it. The head elder stepped forward from the platform. He bowed his head. It was a deep, deliberate gesture of recognition. The other Elders followed.

Then so did the pack.

One by one, they lowered their heads.

Caleb stepped forward and stood beside me. Not in front of me. Not behind me. But beside me. The positioning was deliberate, and every wolf present understood

what it meant.

He took my hand in his.

“The Howling Moon Pack and the Thorn Cliff Pack will form a formal alliance,” I

announced.

My voice carried across the clearing. “Not a merger. But a partnership. The Thorn Cliff Pack has the resources that our pack needs. They are wealthy. They have a strong military. They will help train our warriors and help us find new resources so that we can self-sustain. In return, we will offer them our allegiance.”

I felt the shift in the crowd. I could see the caution. It wasn’t common for packs to form alliances like this. Some of the pack were uncertain. They glanced at one another. What did this mean? What was an alliance? Who would rule the pack?

“Caleb is my Moon Mate,” I continued. “Our bond unites not just two wolves, but two packs. Under this alliance, we will be stronger than either pack has ever been alone. We have already sent word to our neighboring packs. The Crescent Blood Moon Pack will honor this allegiance. They will no longer pace our borders.”

“What will happen to our pack?” a woman called out.

“Our pack will remain under my governance,” I told her. “We will still be independently ruled. You have nothing to worry about. The pack will be safe. And strong. This will secure a better future for all of us. I have been to the Thorn Cliff Pack. I’ve seen the way they run their pack. Everyone is happy. Everyone is looked after and safe. If you put your trust in me, I can ensure you a better path forward. This is for all of us. For our pack. For MY pack.”

People began nodding. My words made sense. Our pack had been in a precarious position for too long now. There was a better way forward. And they were starting to see that.

“I will serve you,” a man said. He came forward and knelt down. “I will serve Alpha Bella.”

“Me too,” another man said. He did the same. Before I knew it, everyone was kneeling. Everyone was saying my name.

Just then, my parents came forward.

“Bella,” my mother said. She was wringing her hands in front of herself. She looked scared and sheepish. “I..I’m sorry.”

I glared at her. At the woman who had always chosen Madison over me. She was partly to blame for my hardship too.

“Your father and I…we had didn’t know. We didn’t know about the extraction contract. We…”

“Silence,” I said, raising my hand. She shut her mouth. “I have a list,” I said. “Of everyone implicated in my extraction. As well as a list of guards who have abused prisoners. Your apology is appreciated, Mother. But it’s not enough. Everyone who was wronged me must be held accountable. You will answer to the council. Not to me. Guards?”

My mother’s knees buckled. “Please, Bella. I swear my allegiance to you. I made a mistake. Please don’t send me to the dungeon.”

I looked down at her, in the dirt, tears streaming from her eyes. For a moment, I almost showed her mercy. But the moment was fleeting.

“Mercy is not mine to give,” I said loudly so that everyone could hear me. “Our pack is bound by laws. It is the council’s responsibility to decide what to do with you.”

Several guards stepped forward. I listed off the names of those I wanted held in the dungeon, including the two guards who had beaten me.

And including both my parents.

They wouldn’t be exiled or executed. Their crimes weren’t bad enough to warrant that. But there would be punishment. Under my reign, no crimes would go unaccounted for. If I had to use my parents as examples, to show the pack that I would not tolerate betrayal, then so be it.

The guards took them away.

“Any one who does not want to serve me is free to leave,” I said. “Without judgement. I will help you find a new pack.”

I waited. But not a single person rose from their knees.

“Looks like no one’s taking you up on that offer,” Caleb said beside me. He tone

was wry.

I suppressed a smile. But inside, I was glowing.

They accepted me. All of them. They all accepted me as their new alpha.

And I’d never been prouder.

“Well,” I said quietly, so that only Caleb could hear me. “I guess there’s only one thing left to do.”

“And what’s that?” he asked, wrapping his arm around my waist and pulling me in close.

“I’ve always dreamed of a crowning ceremony. At the time, I thought it would be for a Luna crowning. But now?” I turned and smiled at him. “I guess it’s for an Alpha crowning.”

“If it’s an alpha crowning you want, Bella,” Caleb said. “Then an alpha crowning you shall have.”
