My Mate Killed Me For My Sister, I Became Luna Of His Enemy Chapter 04 In The Dungeon
Bella’s POV The guards tossed me in the dungeon. The cell was worse than I ever could have imagined. Damp and cold. Rats scurried across the floor. Snow howled, a low, mournful howl. “You’re disgusting,” one of the guards sneered. “You poisoned your own sister,” the other hissed. “You should hear what they’re saying about you upstairs. They’re calling for your exile.” Exile? The pack hated me now. Just then, someone called for them. They turned and left in a hurry. So much of a hurry, that they didn’t properly lock the door. Cautiously, I went to the cell door. The lock was half-way unhitched. This was it. My chance. I could escape. I could run away from this pack. I could leave Silas and Madison behind and find somewhere else to die in peace. The door creaked when I pushed on it. Glancing down the corridor, I didn’t see the guards. So I stepped outside the cell. My heart hammered in my chest. Snow smelled them before we saw them. The guards. “Run!” she hollered at me. Their figures emerged from a corner to the right. I darted to the left. If I could just make it to the stairs. “STOP!” I ran with everything I had. I was so close. If I could get to the door, I could lock it behind me and… Something slammed into me from behind. I fell face first onto the cement. My head bounced. Pain exploded behind my eyes. “What the fuck do you think you’re doing?” He kicked me, causing me to roll onto my back. The two guards hovered over me. “Trying to escape? That’s rich.” He kicked me again. Right in the ribs. A sharp pain tore through my chest. I think he broke a rib. “Please,” I said. But they laughed derisively. Then one of them grabbed me by my hair. He hauled me onto my feet. They dragged me to the cell. They tossed me in. I landed on the hard ground. Then I scrambled up onto my feet. “You’re pathetic,” one of the snarled. They came into the cell. I backed away until I pressed up against the wall. “And you’ve been a very bad girl.” “Looks like we need to teach you a lesson,” the other one smirked. “I have a lesson,” the first one said. He grabbed himself between his legs. “A big, hard lesson.” I glanced between his legs. Panic ripped through me. Oh god. They came towards me. “No, please,” I sobbed. “I’m sorry. I won’t do it again.” Thwack. He hit me hard across the face. My lip split. Metallic blood filled my mouth. I watched in horror as he unzipped his pants. “Bend over,” he hissed. “No, I…please…” The first guard grabbed me by the throat. His eyes were menacing. “You’re a sad little bitch, aren’t you. Hm.” He licked his lips lasciviously. “Do you know what we do to sad little bitches?” He spun me around. He grabbed at my dress, pulling it up. “Please,” I sobbed. “Please don’t…” “That’s enough.” The cell door opened. The guards stopped. Silas was standing in the doorway. “Out,” he said to the guards in his alpha voice. They left. My face was swollen, my lip split. My entire body shook from fear. “Silas,” I said. “Please don’t make me stay. The guards. They…” “Silence,” Silas cut me off. He came into the cell in long, purposeful strides. I met his gaze. There was no compassion in his eyes. There was only anger and disgust. He was my mate. He was supposed to protect me. Why was he doing this? “How could you?” he said. “She’s your sister.” “It doesn’t matter what I say,” I told him. There was no point in arguing. He believed Madison. Nothing I said could change his mind. “I signed the contract,” I told him. “For the Rebirth Ritual. Please, just let me go back to my room. I did what you asked. I’ll see the wizard. Don’t make me stay here.” He was quiet for a moment. “You signed it?” he said, narrowing his eyes. “Yes,” I replied. “It’s in my bedroom. I’ll do the Rebirth Ritual. Please. Let me go.” He shook his head. “No,” he replied. “You made your bed, Madison. Now you have to lie in it. We’ll leave first thing tomorrow morning.” “Don’t make me stay in the dungeon.” My voice cracked. Tears streamed down my cheeks. “I came to tell you that once the ritual is complete and Madison’s wolf is awakened, I’m going to petition the elders to break our mate bond.” His words were like a punch in the stomach. “I can’t be your mate anymore, Bella. Not after what you did.” Snow whined. “You’re…you’re going to reject me?” My voice was small. “But I didn’t poison her. You have to believe me. She’s my twin. I would never hurt her.” “Madison is right. Everything that comes out of your mouth is lie. I’m done with your lies. I’m done with you.” His voice was flat. He turned to leave. “I’ll have the guards leave you alone. It’s the last bit of mercy I’ll ever offer you.” So that was it. I was going to do the ritual, for him. For Madison. And he was going to reject me anyway. “Wait,” I said before he got to the door. “Did you ever love me at all, Silas? Even just little a bit?” He turned to face me. His hands curl at his sides. His voice was low. “No,” he said. “I never loved you.” He paused. “But I think you already know that.” His words knocked the wind right out of me. The moment he left, I collapsed onto my hands and knees. I was breathing heavy, reeling. My mind spun. I’d never felt so low, so insignificant. I wished I could just disappear. I spent the night alone, in the cold, damp dungeon, crying softly until I had no more tears left to cry.
