After the revenge was done, the first thing Dante did was not rest. He called a high-level family meeting.

All the Capos sat on both sides of the long table. Marco the Consigliere and Rocco the Enforcer were there too.

Dante sat at the head of the table, wearing a black suit, a bellflower on his chest, and the ash pendant around his neck.

“Starting today, I am no longer the Don of the Visconti family.”

The room erupted.

Marco shot to his feet. “Don, what are you saying? The family is finally stable —”

“Marco, you’ll take over. You’ve always been the most loyal Consigliere. You’re capable of running the family.”

“But Don —”

“No buts.” Dante’s voice was calm. “The only reason I had to live is dead. I don’t need power. I don’t need money. I don’t need anything.”

Rocco slammed his fist on the table. “Then what do you want?!”

Dante was quiet for a few seconds. Then he said, “I’m going to find her.”

Everyone thought he was going to kill himself.

Several Capos rushed forward to stop him. Rocco blocked them — because Rocco understood. This was the Don’s final order. He had to obey.

Dante stood up and removed the family crest from his chest. He set it on the table.

“From today onward, you no longer serve me. May the family thrive.”

He turned and left.

No one tried to stop him.

I floated behind him, watching his back. He walked steadily, each step like stepping into concrete.

When he reached the estate gate, he looked back.

“Goodbye,” he said. I couldn’t tell if he was saying it to the family or to me.

I said softly, “Goodbye, Dante.”

He didn’t hear. But he touched the pendant on his chest and smiled.
