My Husband’s Heir Cost Him His Own Daughter Chapter 47

When my father returned, his contempt for Carter had deepened.

“She betrayed you? Good. You deserved it.” He tossed his phone onto the table, his expression hard. “If that man wants you to have any peace, he’ll move away. If he doesn’t, I’ll take you and Claire so far away he’ll never find you.”

Across the street, Carter put down his phone and stared at the closed gates of the Lowell estate. The stubbornness in his eyes only intensified.

If Amelia moved, he would follow.

He made a silent vow.

Amelia, I will make you see. This time, I really do know I was wrong.

In the days that followed, Carter stood outside our gate almost every morning, holding a fresh bouquet of white roses.

He didn’t ring the bell. He didn’t speak.

He just stood there.

Only when the flowers began to wilt in the afternoon sun would he turn and leave.

If I wanted to go out, I had to use the rear driveway.

I thought that if I just ignored him, his patience would eventually wear thin.

But I never expected him to find out about Claire.
