My Husband’s Heir Cost Him His Own Daughter Chapter 44

My heart felt nothing.

“I don’t want to see him, Dad. And you don’t need to bother with him,” I said calmly. “If you break his legs, you’ll just end up in court. He’s not worth it.”

“So we’re just going to let him stand out there and scream?” My father was so angry his hands were shaking.

“Call the police.” I took out my phone, my tone as casual as if I were discussing the weather. “Tell them someone is trespassing on private property and refusing to leave.”

Mrs. Lowell nodded immediately.

“Yes. That’s the sensible thing to do.”

My father reluctantly put down the golf club and dialed 911.

After that, Carter stopped shouting at our gate.

I thought he had finally given up.

But a few weeks later, after I had recovered enough to take Claire out for her first walk, I saw a large moving truck parked across the street.

As far as I knew, an old Harvard professor had lived in that house for years.

Why was he suddenly moving?

A sense of dread washed over me. I was about to ask the nanny to go and inquire when the front door of the house opened.

And Carter Beauchamp walked out.

He saw me, and he had the audacity to smile.

A hot rage flared in my chest.

He wouldn’t leave me alone. He wouldn’t accept my refusal to see him.

So he had simply bought the house across the street?

After all these years, Carter hadn’t changed at all.

Arrogant. Stubborn. Convinced that money could solve any problem.

Did he really think that moving in across the street would make me forgive him?

In his dreams.
