My Husband’s Heir Cost Him His Own Daughter Chapter 18

My Husband’s Heir Cost Him His Own Daughter Chapter 18

The place that held three years of my marriage, all my love and all my hate, was fading away.

I looked down at the sleeping child in my arms.

Under the soft cabin lights, her tiny face was so peaceful it made my heart ache.

I bent and kissed her forehead, taking my first real breath of relief.

By now, Carter Beauchamp would have received the final judgment at his son’s party.

From this moment on, legally, I had no connection to him or the Beauchamp family.

And neither did my child.

She would have my name.

Lowell.

I had already chosen her name.

Claire. Claire Lowell.

I prayed her life would be just like her name: clear and bright.

When the plane touched down at Boston’s Logan Airport, the sky was just beginning to lighten.

The cabin door opened, and I saw them standing on the tarmac.

My parents.

“Dad! Mom!”

My mother rushed forward and pulled me into a hug. When she saw my face, so pale it was almost translucent, she burst into tears.

“Amelia, my darling, what have they done to you?”

My father walked over and carefully took Claire from my arms.

He looked down at the tiny baby, a rare tenderness softening his features.

But when he looked back at me, his eyes were full of a cold fury.

“The Beauchamp family will pay for this,” he said, his voice low and hard. “From this day on, my granddaughter is the sole heir of the Lowell Group.”

Their embrace, their protection—it was the dam breaking. The breath I had been holding for months finally rushed out.

I leaned into my mother’s arms and cried.

“Mom, I’m so glad to be home.”
