My Husband’s Happiness Reached 100% When I Left Chapter 07

The medication worked fast.

Blood pooled quickly beneath Brielle.

She writhed in agony, but there wasn’t a flicker of concern from Damian.

The man just stood over her, cold, detached.

“Make sure it’s all out. There can’t be any risk the baby survives.”

Brielle finally broke completely, glaring up at him in despair.

“Damian, why are you doing this to me!”

“Annika losing her baby wasn’t my fault-it was yours! If you’d taken her to the hospital right away, none of that would’ve happened! But you chose me!”

“This isn’t my fault! My baby is innocent! What right do you have to do this to my child!”

Fury radiated off Damian.

“Innocent? It’s nothing but a mistake.”

“Did you actually think I’d divorce Annika and marry you?”

“Brielle Foster, have you completely lost your grip on reality? You were a fling. Nothing more. And you thought it was real?”

“Annika has always been the only wife in my heart. I told you that from the very beginning. I told you not to

touch her.”

“Everything that’s happened-you brought it on yourself!”

Brielle stared at the man in front of her, someone she no longer recognized at all, and broke into a raw, hysterical laugh.

Tears streamed down her face.

“You think shoving all the blame onto me makes you innocent?”

“Damian Ashford, you cheated! Annika is never coming back to you now!”

“You’re scum! You’re the reason you drove Annika away! You deserve this! People like you don’t deserve

love!”

The moment the words left her mouth, Damian’s hand closed around her throat.

His eyes blazed red.

“Shut your mouth.”

“Cough… hit a nerve, didn’t I, you bastard!”

Brielle’s face turned crimson as he choked her, blood pooling faster, but she refused to back down.

Soon, she passed out.

The doctor beside them went pale.

“Mr. Ashford, that’s enough! Let go! She’s hemorrhaging, she’s going to die! Let go of her, now!”

Damian didn’t budge, his eyes still burning with hatred.

Then his assistant burst in, holding a document.

“Mr. Ashford! Madam sent this for you!”

Damian’s grip released instantly.

He snatched the document but didn’t dare open it right away.

The medical team quickly stretchered Brielle away for surgery.

He didn’t spare her a single glance-his eyes were locked on the document.

Something about it felt familiar.

It looked like the check Annika had shown him that day, asking for money for a bag.

He pressed his lips together and, with trembling hands, opened it.

Three words stared back at him:

Divorce Settlement Agreement.

His own signature, flourished and unmistakable, stamped and sealed.

The divorce was final.

For a moment, everything went black. He nearly collapsed.

He finally understood why Annika, who’d never cared for luxury, had asked him for a bag that day.

He’d assumed she’d finally turned into one of those vain society wives.

He’d even felt a flash of contempt because of it.

He never imagined it had been a divorce agreement all along.

Damian immediately ordered Preston to track Annika’s location.

When they’d married, he’d had a subdermal GPS tracker implanted in her arm.

Just so he could find her, anytime, anywhere.

So she’d never disappear from this world.

Once, Damian had truly loved her.

But somewhere along the way, that love had calcified into habit, indifference, and cruelty.

The seven-year itch.

He’d believed Annika would never leave him, and so he’d gone looking for something new, with a clear

conscience.

He’d forgotten-the only reason she’d ever stayed by his side in the first place was because he’d begged her

Before long, Preston returned with news.

“Mr. Ashford, we can’t locate her anywhere in the world.”

“It’s like-she’s just gone.”
