My Husband’s Happiness Reached 100% When I Left Chapter 06

Brielle had no idea that the one thing Damian hated more than anything else was being deceived.

She clutched her cheek, tears welling up.

“You hit me. You actually hit me!”

“Damian, you hit me over something this small! I’m done with you! I’m getting rid of this baby!”

She turned to storm off.

But Damian didn’t chase after her, didn’t coax her like before.

He just stood there, staring at the spot where Annika had vanished, lost in thought.

Brielle bit down hard on her lip and swallowed her pride.

She walked back over, tears falling right on cue, looking utterly pitiful.

“Damian, I know I was wrong. I shouldn’t have lied, shouldn’t have deceived you, and I definitely shouldn’t have provoked Annika.”

“I just love you so much. I’m pregnant-I can live with having no title, but my baby doesn’t deserve that.”

“I did it for our child too, Damian. You understand that, don’t you?”

“I know I was wrong. Worst case, I’ll apologize to Annika myself.”

As she spoke, she leaned in, trying to wrap her arms around him.

Damian shook her off, his face darkening:

“Get rid of the baby. You don’t deserve to carry my child.”

Brielle froze, thinking he was just angry.

“Don’t say that, Damian. That’s a real life we’re talking about!”

“Get rid of it. I’m not going to say it twice.”

Damian looked at the tearful woman in front of him without a shred of sympathy left.

Only irritation.

-ways believed Brielle was innocent, sweet, uncomplicated.

He never imagined she’d scheme against him like this.

And in doing so, hurt Annika.

Damian’s mind kept flashing back to Annika’s calm, still face just moments ago.

Like she’d already given up trying to explain, to fight.

Like she’d wanted, finally, to leave him.

No. Impossible!

She’d summoned that System right in front of him once before and declared she’d stay in this world.

Stay by his side.

There was no way she’d leave.

Especially not now, with their child still growing inside her.

Damian kept reassuring himself.

“No! No! Let go of me!”

Brielle struggled uselessly as she was forced to swallow the abortion pill.

His private physician approached, expression grave, handing him the medication.

“Mr. Ashford, your wife’s already in delicate health and had difficulty carrying a pregnancy.”

“This external factor has indirectly led to a miscarriage and left her even weaker-she’ll need extremely careful postnatal care from now on.”

Damian froze, his mind exploding into static.

He heard himself ask, voice hoarse:

“Who miscarried?”

The doctor frowned but repeated dutifully.

“Your wife. Annika Reyes.”

“She just woke up from surgery. Why isn’t she in her room anymore?”

Damian lunged forward and grabbed the doctor by the collar.

His voice came out like it was being torn from his throat.

“She had surgery, and you didn’t tell me?!”

The doctor paled, stammering:

“I did tell you. You were with Ms. Foster at the time, getting her checked out.”

“You said-let Ms. Reyes sign the forms herself, don’t disturb you.”

In an instant, his hand went slack.

His face drained white. He collapsed to the floor, hollowed out.

It had been him. He had destroyed his and Annika’s son himself.
