His grip was strong, and it hurt.

“You’ve been acting strange these past few days. Is this some kind of reverse psychology?”

I smiled and didn’t push back.

“Don’t you like it this way?”

He stared at me for a moment, then slowly let go.

“If you can really keep this up, be my guest. Let’s see how long it lasts.”

It was strange—the less I fought, the less I made scenes, the more irritated he seemed.

Before I could process it, camera flashes suddenly burst around me, blinding.

A crowd of reporters had gathered at the door, every lens pointed at me.

I stepped forward and grabbed the man’s arm, my voice shaking:

“That video—Brielle must have leaked it. She’s trying to humiliate me—”

A slap landed straight across my face.

My head snapped to the side, and for a moment, I couldn’t hear anything.

Damian’s voice came at me distant, then sharp, and utterly cold.

“Where would Brielle get a video like that? Annika Reyes, I actually thought you’d finally settled down. Turns out this is what you were planning.”

“Framing Brielle on purpose—do you find that fun?”

“I was even going to keep the title of Mrs. Ashford for you. And this is what you do?”

He shoved me to the ground and stood proudly in front of the cameras, Brielle in his arms:

“The video is real. Yes, it’s footage of Annika and a director, exactly what it looks like.”

“As her husband, I was kept in the dark for seven years. I only learned the truth today.”

“I’m announcing, here and now, that Annika Reyes and I are no longer married! Legal proceedings will follow!”

“This is Brielle Foster. She’ll be the next lady of the Ashford family. The love of my life.”

Brielle finally stopped hiding, leaning up with a sweet smile to press a kiss to his lips, cooing:

“When did the two of you get together? When’s the wedding? Where will it be held?”

The reporters had found a bigger story and abandoned me entirely.

As Damian turned to leave, he paused, glancing back at me once.

That look held nothing but disappointment.

He turned and walked away without looking back again.

But I saw it—the number above his head, climbing steadily as the crowd surrounded him.

A few steps after he left the room, it hit 100%.

“I will make appropriate arrangements for your identity in this world, as per standard procedure. No one will be able to find you.”

I closed my eyes slowly and murmured softly:
