My Husband’s Ghost Lover Chapter 06

My Husband’s Ghost Lover Chapter 06

I raised an eyebrow.

Now this was getting good.

According to Alonzo, he had been seriously injured in that accident and had been in a coma for a long time before finally waking up.

From that perspective, he never actually knew the specifics of what had happened that day.

It meant that the “savior” he had believed in all this time was nothing more than a fabrication.

When I got home, the way I looked at Alonzo had changed.

These days, he never resisted Makayla’s advances. On several nights, I had even heard muffled, suggestive moans coming from the guest

room.

It was disgusting.

Scenes like that made my skin crawl, but Alonzo assumed I was avoiding them because I was finally reaching my breaking point–so he only grew bolder.

But when I suddenly stared at him for a long time, he grew

uncomfortable. He gently pushed Makayla off him and walked toward

me.
As he stood up, his figure swayed slightly. I only just noticed that he had lost a significant amount of weight recently.

As for Makayla, her form had grown more translucent, yet her face looked noticeably more vibrant.

“Have you come to your senses? Ready to drop the divorce?”

That was the first thing he said to me.

“I bet your filing hasn’t been going too smoothly lately, has it?

“I told you a long time ago–in the real world, I don’t abuse you, I’m not sleeping with other women, and I don’t have any hidden assets. If you’re really planning to wait out a two–year separation just to file, Jazlyn, I doubt you’ve got the guts for it.”

He took a step closer.

I realized then that Alonzo was in much worse shape than I had imagined.

His pale skin made the dark circles under his eyes stand out even more, his lips had a purplish tint, and his gaze would occasionally lose focus.

His whole body looked unsteady, as if he might collapse at any

moment.

I stared at him and finally spoke. “Alonzo, how much do you actually remember about the accident?”

Alonzo was taken aback.

“You claim Makayla saved you. Who told you that? After being in a coma for so long, did you ever actually cross–check the facts with anyone else to confirm it?”

The moment I spoke, Makayla froze. I could see the sheer panic and unease in her eyes.

Unfortunately, he had his back to her and saw none of it. Instead, he flew into a rage.

“Jazlyn, what are you implying? Are you actually suggesting it wasn’t Kayla who saved me?

“She has loved me since our school days. She even slit her wrists for me once. I’ve never known a love so pure.

“She is exactly the kind of person who would risk her life to save me if I were in danger! Just because you wouldn’t do the same doesn’t mean you should judge others by your own standards!”

He was breathing heavily, looking at me with profound disappointment.

It was the first time he had ever looked at me that way.

“I always thought you were a rational person, but I can’t believe how heartless you’ve become–nothing but petty jealousy on your mind.”

Makayla listened beside them, her eyes welling with tears.

Translucent droplets slid down her cheeks, only to be wiped away by Alonzo’s hand.

“Alonzo, so you knew all along.” Her voice broke, trembling with sobs. “I thought I’d hidden it so well, but you knew…

He turned to look at her, his gaze so tender it could melt. “I knew everything.

“That’s why I won’t let anyone slander you–not even my wife.

The more they played out this scene, the calmer I became.

I finally understood. Makayla wasn’t some secret love that had

suddenly been revealed by her death,

Alonzo had been aware of her existence the entire time.

Her reappearance as a ghost had simply provided the spark needed to rekindle his interest after years of our marriage growing stale.

I sighed and held back the warning I had intended to give Alonzo about getting himself checked out.

There was clearly something deeply wrong with his health.

Alonzo had unilaterally started a cold war with me, all while he and Makayla carried on as usual.

His condition continued to deteriorate, while Makayla grew more vibrant by the day–even as her form became increasingly translucent.

The contradiction was unsettling.

The idea of ghosts draining a person’s life energy had always seemed like nothing more than a myth to me.

But now, it looked as though there might be some truth to it after all.
