My Husband Wiped The Handle My Brother Touched And Called It Clean Chapter 06

“Chloe, have you lost your mind?! Horizon is our sworn enemy! This is going to completely destroy Starry Sky’s IPO!”

Ethan’s eyes turned bloodshot, his voice shaking violently.

He gripped the licensing agreement so hard the veins on the back of his hands bulged. “Do you have any idea how long the company prepared for this public listing?”

“You handed our core patent to Horizon!” he roared. “The board of directors will literally skin me alive!”

I watched his pathetic, powerless fury with complete coldness. “What does that have to do with me?”

“Mr. Miller, we are divorced,” I reminded him. “When the company was founded, thank goodness you insisted on putting the patent under my name for asset security.”

“Horizon’s thirty-million-dollar licensing fee has already cleared in my account,” I added with a smile. “Using the ‘security’ you gave me back then to cash out—I’d say this is an excellent deal.”

Turning my back on his echoes in the hallway, I walked straight into Logan’s ward.

Over the next few days, an absolute earthquake rocked Starry Sky Tech.

Due to the loss of their core patent coupled with the exposure of

Ethan’s messy divorce scandal, institutional investors began pulling out one after another.

The company’s private valuation plummeted.

On the afternoon of the fifth day, I was sitting by the bed, blowing on a bowl of broth to feed Logan.

Logan’s leg was enclosed in a thick cast. He had lost an immense amount of weight, staring blankly at the ceiling with hollow eyes.

The door was pushed open quietly. Ethan stood at the entrance.

He looked completely wrecked—his jaw was covered in thick stubble, and his designer suit was wrinkled and disheveled.

Watching me feed Logan spoon by spoon, a complicated swirl of emotion flashed through his eyes.

“Chloe…” he called out, his voice incredibly raspy.

I didn’t even bother to look back. “Get out. You are not welcome here.”

Ethan didn’t leave. Instead, he walked over and sat down on the chair beside the bed.

“I remember when my first startup failed and I was hospitalized with gastric bleeding, you used to take care of me exactly like this.”

He lowered his head, burying his face in his hands miserably.

“Chloe, I was wrong. These past few days, my head has been filled with nothing but our old memories.”

“I’ve pulled every single dollar of investment out of Stella’s family, and I’ve fired her from the company,” he pleaded softly. “Get the patent back, and let’s get remarried, okay?”

With bloodshot eyes, his voice carried a pathetic, submissive plea.

I set the bowl down, finding it utterly repulsive. “Ethan, are you actually missing me, or are you just missing the patent that can resurrect your dying company?”

His face froze, and he scrambled to explain.

Bang!

The ward door was violently thrown open.

Stella burst in with wild, tangled hair, pointing her finger right at my face and screaming like a lunatic.

“Chloe Clark, you absolute bitch! Why did you have to ruin Austin?!”

“Why did you force Ethan to pull his funding?!” she howled. “I’m telling you, if Austin goes to prison, I will drag you down to hell with me!”

Ethan scrambled to his feet and landed a sharp slap right across Stella’s face. “Shut up! Get the hell out!”

Stella held her cheek, staring at Ethan in complete shock. “You hit me? You hit me for this bitch?”

Looking at this miserable pair, I pulled a thumb drive from my pocket. I tossed it onto the bedside table.

“Stella Vance, did you really think your brother just had one too many drinks and caused an accident?”

I tapped my phone, connecting it to the Bluetooth speaker in the ward.

It was the dashcam audio synchronized automatically from Logan’s smartwatch cloud storage.

Inside the recording, Austin’s arrogant, booming voice echoed clearly through the room.

“Sis, this car is so fucking sick! Watch me blow past every single one of these losers today! Look at that idiot on the electric scooter ahead, watch me scare the absolute shit out of him!”

Following the deafening roar of the engine was a violent, crushing impact, followed by Logan’s agonizing screams.

Finally, Austin’s panicked cursing filled the air: “Shit! I hit someone! Go, go, hit the gas!”

As the audio cut off, the room plunged into a suffocating silence.

I looked directly at the deathly pale Stella.

“Stella Vance, how many years do you think your precious little brother will spend behind bars when this piece of evidence for vehicular assault and public endangerment lands on the judge’s desk?”
