My Husband Thinks I’m My Own Mistress Chapter 14

My Husband Thinks I’m My Own Mistress Chapter 14

Elara slumped against the wall, gasping for breath like a broken doll.

I stepped out of the bathroom slowly, my posture calm.

Kael leaned against the wall, one leg bent, an unlit cigarette between his fingers.

I froze. “When did you get here?”

“Right when you hit her the second time.”

Kael smiled faintly. “Didn’t know you two were so close. You even wished her happy

wedding.”

“Cut the sarcasm.”

“I’m not. I just noticed you only hurt people you’re close to. You hit me too. That means I’m

special to you. I like it.”

I stared. “…Are you crazy?”

He pulled me into his arms, burying his face in my chest. “Baby, do you hate her? If you want

her life ruined, I can call off the engagement and make sure she never survives in Eastwick

Heights.”

“No!”

I refused without thinking. “Bagging a rich guy is her move. Don’t mess with it.”

Kael kissed my forehead softly. “You’re so kind, baby.”

I thought so too.

I let out a quiet sigh.

What else could I do?

She was my blood sister.

Family was family, no matter what.

I had no idea what Kael did.

The Chen family’s business shrank by half, but it didn’t collapse completely.

Right then, news of Elara and Jax’s engagement broke.

Harold and Elaine rushed to Elara, overjoyed.

She slammed the door in their faces without hesitation.

Elara was crueler than me. Once she locked down her rich future, she cut them off

completely.

“Birth parents? The ones who dumped me in the country and never paid child support?”

“Grandpa dug through trash cans at midnight to feed me. Grandma ruined her eyes sewing through the night to pay my school fees. She got sick, had no money for treatment, and just

waited to die in bed!”

“Lila might go soft on you, but I won’t.”

She wore a diamond ring the size of a pigeon egg, long blood-red nails, and looked down at

them with contempt.

“Get out. Now.”

“Your grandparents’ situation was because we had no money… Elara, we’ve spoiled you since

we brought you home. This breaks Mommy’s heart!” Elaine sobbed.

Elara laughed coldly.

“No money to raise me, no money to treat my grandparents, but plenty for Lila’s tutoring and

piano lessons?”

“All the kindness you gave me later was just to cover your stupid, evil hearts!”

“You’re both fools. Look where you are now. Lila doesn’t want you, I don’t want you. Just wait

to die. I’ll handle your funeral.”

“Elara, baby, you can’t do this! Mommy only has you two!”

Elaine lunged forward desperately.

Servants pulled her away and threw her out.

Outside, Harold’s hair was gray. He stared at the carved door, his eyes cold and calculating,

not sad at all.

“He definitely has an out-of-wedlock son,” Elara said, sauntering over to me where I leaned

over the railing.

I blinked slowly and looked up. “You treated Mom like that… don’t you feel anything for them

at all?”

“I’m not you, princess,” she chuckled softly.

“I ran out of love for them when my grandparents died.”

“When they passed and I couldn’t even pay for their funeral, so I knelt by their bodies and

cried? I stopped having parents that day.”

I stared at her for a long moment.

Fear suddenly washed over me.

Holy crap. She was a completely different person after marrying into wealth.

All her old gentleness was gone.

Her eyes burned with raw, vengeful rage.

It felt like she’d grab a machete and chop down everyone who crossed her.

I swallowed hard. “Are you… gonna get revenge on me too? Kael won’t let you hurt me.”

“Relax, princess.” She ruffled my hair. “I don’t care enough to mess with you.”

I felt even more terrified.

Just then, Kael walked in.

I sprinted down the stairs like I’d seen my savior and threw myself at him.

“Honey, help me! Please!”

He caught me automatically, confused. He touched my messy hair. “Who hurt you?”

“Mr. Voss.” Elara came down the stairs with a sweet smile.

“My sister is too soft-hearted. To avoid trouble between us, I’ll be clear: I want the Chen family ruined. I’ll make Jax do it. I just ask you not to interfere.”

Kael looked down at me with surprise. “Baby, did you agree to this with her?”

I started to shake my head, to say it was too cruel.

Then Elara laughed mockingly. “Sister, you’re an idiot. If you want their love, ruin them. Make

them depend on you for everything. Make them beg for your approval. Isn’t that better than torturing yourself, holding on and getting nothing?”

I froze.

I just stared and made a small, dumb sound.

Kael’s gaze darkened. He held me tighter.

“Fine. I won’t interfere.”

His voice was meaningful.

“I didn’t approve of your engagement to Jax before.”

“But now? I’ll give you a huge wedding gift. Congratulations.”
