Kael took me back to Eastwick Heights.

He made me keep working as his secretary.

He’d keep me up till three in the morning, then wake me at eight for work.

I was exhausted. I grabbed his sleeve and whined.

“Honey, I don’t wanna go to work.”

He leaned down and touched my face, short and sharp. “No.”

He lifted me out of bed, dressed me, brushed my teeth, fed me breakfast like a doll, then

stuffed me into the car.

Once, at one in the morning, in the middle of everything, he propped himself up over me,

sweaty, and tapped my flushed cheek.

“You got the quarterly sales report done? I need it tomorrow.”

My eyes went wide.

I slapped him. “Are you even human?!”

The next day, I slammed the report down on his desk, furious.

He swept the papers aside, lifted me onto his desk, and pinched my pale cheek.

“You know better than that.”

I stayed quiet, glaring at him with a pout.

“Fine. I’ll go easy on you.”

He sighed, finally softening.

“Go sleep in my lounge. I’ll wake you when we leave.”

I stared at him coldly. “You’re an asshole!”

“Yeah, yeah, I’m an asshole. But you were used to this before. Why can’t you handle it now?”

He touched my ear and leaned in.

“It’s pretty fun, though. Work when there’s work-”

I shoved him away hard.

My face burned.

“We’re in the office-”

Kael looked at me knowingly.

“You know exactly what I’m like, baby~”

He paused.

“From now on, we’re letting the past go. You don’t bring it up, I won’t bring it up. We’ll forget it

all.”

I used to toy with him.

Now he toyed with me.

Even.

Fine.

Like hell.

I punched him.

Then I turned and went to the lounge to sleep.
