My Husband Offered $100 Million to Buy Out Our Marriage Chapter 02

Having received the answer he wanted, Julian was satisfied, his tone uncontrollably upbeat.

“That’s more like it, this is the grace and maturity expected of Mrs. Sterling.”

“As long as you stay this obedient, I’ll come home on time every day.”

If the eighteen-year-old Julian had heard these words, he would have wanted to smash a hole in his own face.

After all, he was the one who had chased my bus on a bicycle, begging me to be with him.

He was also the one who knelt on the ground, using his first bit of startup capital to buy a ring, begging me to marry him.

At eighteen, he rode his bike with me around the entire lake, shouting at the top of his lungs.

“I, Julian Sterling, swear to heaven that I will love Elara Vance for the rest of my life.”

Perhaps the night wind was too cold back then, for it had scattered those sincere promises of youth.

Now, only shattered pieces remained.

I’m done fighting.

I don’t want it anymore.

After the cremation, I held my mother’s urn and shed one last tear.

“Mom, let’s go home, we’re never coming back.”

Back at the house, I carried the urn upstairs to pack my bags.

Cassidy, wearing my nightgown, swayed out of the master bedroom and leaned against the doorframe.

In the past, I would have gone mad.

Now, with my mother dead, my heart was dead too.

All that remained was numbness and silence.

Seeing no reaction from me, Cassidy deliberately exposed the dense purple bruises on her neck, continuing her provocation.

“Julian said your wedding bed was custom-made; I mentioned it in passing last night, and I didn’t expect him to actually let me stay and try it out.”

“It really is comfortable, so big and soft.”

It was indeed custom-made by Julian.

But ever since the night he confessed his infidelity and I stubbornly decided to waste my life away with him.

That wedding bed had held nothing but hysterical screams and tears.

My expression remained vacant as I spoke coldly.

“Get out.”

Cassidy’s expression stiffened for a moment, then she stood her ground and sneered.

“I really don’t know what you have to be so smug about; Julian obviously doesn’t love you anymore, yet you cling on and refuse to divorce. You’re a disgrace to women!”

“If I were you, I’d just go jump into the ocean; at least then you might occupy a tiny corner of Julian’s heart.”

“Your mother too—her daughter is so pathetic, and she didn’t even bother to set her straight, she deserved to get cancer…”

I suddenly looked up, the fire of rage igniting in my eyes.

“What did you just say?”

Cassidy snorted.

“I’ll say it! Your mother was better off dead…”

Before she could finish, I slapped her across the face, my palm burning and trembling.

Cassidy clutched her face, and once she realized what had happened, she grabbed my hair and slammed my head against the wall with a ‘thud.’

Instantly, the world began to spin.

I held onto the urn tightly, terrified to let go.

Cassidy saw my weakness and began to fight for the urn, her nails digging into my arms.

Just then, Julian emerged from the bathroom, frowning as he pulled us apart.

Cassidy immediately dropped her arrogance and pointed at the slap mark on her face, sobbing.

“Julian, she hit me! And she tried to hit my head with that ugly box!”

Julian’s face darkened, seemingly oblivious to the bloody scratches Cassidy had left on my face and neck.

“Elara, apologize!”

I gasped in pain, forcing back the tears brimming in my eyes.

“Over my dead body.”

Julian suddenly raised his hand toward my face.

I lifted my head, betting he wouldn’t dare hit me.

He didn’t hit me.

Instead, his hand went straight for the urn in my arms, grabbing it brutally.

Then, he raised his arm and hurled the urn onto the floor.

I lunged to catch it instantly, but I was half a beat too slow.

With a loud ‘crash.’

A hole was blasted through my heart.
