My Husband Framed Me For His Mother’s Murder Chapter 05

The murmuring stopped instantly as all eyes fixed on the thing in my hand.

The officer quickly walked over, took it, and examined it carefully.

It was a hospital emergency record and an accident report from the traffic police.

The medical record clearly stated the ambulance pickup time as 6:50 p.m., with Dr. Sarah Mitchell as the attending physician and Karen Doyle as the nurse.

The accident report showed the location three intersections away from the community.

It had the responding officer’s signature and official stamp, clearly noting that I had been pinned in the driver’s seat, that onlookers had gathered, and that I was later taken to the hospital.

The officer pulled out his phone and immediately called the traffic officer who responded to the accident.

The voice on the other end came through clearly. “Yes, around 6:45 p.m., we received a call. When we arrived, the woman was indeed trapped in her car. Her head was bleeding. The ambulance took her to the hospital.”

Next, the officer called the emergency room doctor, who confirmed everything.

“So while your mother-in-law fell, you were either at the hospital or on your way home,” the officer said, lowering his phone, his tone softening. “You couldn’t have been at the scene.”

Hearing that, I felt some of the tension release.

I said, choking up, “Officer, why would I hurt my mother-in-law? I came back from my business trip to celebrate her birthday. There were still presents for her in the trunk.”

The crowd began buzzing again.

“So she really wasn’t home? Did we blame her for nothing?”

“But if she wasn’t home, who did I see?”

“Then who killed the old lady? Did she jump on her own?”

Michael’s face turned pale, panic and unease washing over him.

He stared at the medical record and accident report and quickly argued, “That’s impossible. She must have faked them.”

“Officer, don’t believe her. She probably caused the accident on purpose, then snuck home, killed my mom, and went back to the hospital to play innocent.”

“Faked them?”

I laughed coldly, staring at him. “Michael, how exactly would I fake them?”

“The accident report has an official stamp, the medical record has a hospital seal, and a dozen witnesses saw me. How could I fake them?”

“Or are you just in a hurry to pin this on me and cover something up?”

“You’re lying!” Michael’s face turned red. He avoided my eyes. “Don’t twist my words.”

Just then, the medical examiner said, “I lifted one fingerprint from the victim’s wrist and another from the edge of the balcony window.”

“Fingerprints?” The officer frowned and looked at the ME.
