“Honey… my Honey.”

Serena looked as if she’d been struck by lightning. She let out several hysterical screams, then bent over retching.

Alex let out a breath of relief and half-carried the hysterical Serena out of the bathroom.

Serena sobbed as if she were coming apart.

“My cat is dead. How did this happen? Alex, my cat is dead.”

“What am I supposed to do? It hurts so much, Alex. Why did Elena kill my cat?”

“If she doesn’t like me, if she has a problem with me, she can come at me.”

“Why did she have to be so cruel and cause my cat to die?”

She was devastated, going limp in Alex’s arms.

Alex tried to comfort her.

“I’ll buy you one exactly like it, okay?”

“You can’t just replace him! My Honey is just like you. There will never be another one.”

“Don’t you know how important he is to me?”

Alex had given Serena that cat as a birthday gift four years ago.

At her birthday party, Serena had gotten wasted and cried in Alex’s arms.

“You have Elena. Who do I have?”

“I’m all alone. I don’t even have anyone to talk to.”

“And you can’t be with me all the time.”

The next day, Alex bought her the cat.

Serena said she was the cat’s mom, and Alex was the cat’s dad.

The three of them were one happy family.

Elena had been there at the time, waiting for Alex to deny it.

But Alex only smiled and said nothing.

Serena clutched Alex’s collar and questioned him through tears.

“Didn’t you say Elena was kind? Then why did she kill our cat?”

“Does she hate me that much?”

“You two are going in to sign your marriage license tomorrow. I even agreed to be your bridesmaid.”

“Why would she do this to me?”

Alex’s heart ached as Serena cried so hard she could barely speak.

He promised her, “I’ll make Ellie apologize to you.”

“She went too far.”

With that, Alex pulled out his phone and called Elena.

An automated message said the call could not be completed.

The second call was the same.

Growing impatient, he tried to video-call her, only to notice the message he had sent Elena on the way home now had a red exclamation mark beside it.

Elena had blocked him.

Alex’s anger surged.

Serena furiously pulled out her own phone and called Elena.

She heard the same automated message: the call could not be completed.

She switched to sending a voice message.

[Elena, why did you kill my cat? If you have a problem, come at me! How can you be so vicious?]

The moment she tried to send it, a bright red exclamation mark appeared.

She had been blocked by Elena too.

Serena turned her anger on Alex.

“Look at the woman you picked.”

“She’s that vicious, and you still want to marry someone like her?”

Alex was so angry he didn’t answer.

More than the cat’s death, what enraged him was that Elena had blocked him without a word.

And that she had left their home in this state.
