My Fiancé Sided With His Mischievous Childhood Friend, Until My Mother‑In‑Law Burst In Chapter 06

Chloe lowered her voice. “I bought it online.”

The hotel medic opened the jar, took one cautious sniff, and frowned.

“This is highly irritating. She needs a skin examination at the hospital. It may have caused contact

dermatitis.”

My fingers tightened at the words.

Victoria took my hand. “Don’t be afraid.”

She turned to the officers. “We’re going to have every injury documented.”

Chloe finally looked frightened. “Documented? Is it really that serious? It’s hair, not a broken,

bone!”

Victoria met her eyes. “You deliberately altered part of her body without consent. Her scalp is cut

and inflamed. You filmed her without permission and organized a group to humiliate her. Which part of that sounds harmless to you?”

Diana tried to interrupt. “Mrs. Ashford, the video hasn’t been posted. We can make every

bridesmaid delete it.”

Victoria looked up. “How do you know it hasn’t been posted?”

Diana went still.

Victoria addressed a bodyguard. “Have everyone preserve their phones for the police. Anyone who

refuses can explain why to the officers.”

Madison shrieked, “Why should I? My phone has private information on it!”

Victoria smiled. “Privacy didn’t matter when you were filming someone else’s humiliation. Now that it’s yours, suddenly it hurts?”

Madison’s face flushed.

An officer asked her to unlock the phone. She dragged her feet before opening the photo gallery.

There were screenshots from a group chat, along with several voice messages from Chloe.

Chloe: [She’s going to bawl when she wakes up. Her hair is her pride and joy. She can wear a wig tomorrow. Let’s see her play the perfect bride after this.]

Someone replied: [Chloe, you’re savage. You really know how to put the bride in her place.]

Another message read: [Ethan will still take your side.]

Then came: [Once it’s done, it’s done. She won’t dare cancel the wedding.]

Nausea rolled through me as I read them.

Ethan saw them too. His face turned ashen. Then his shoulders sagged, as if every ounce of strength had drained from him.

“Chloe.” His voice was painfully hoarse. “You planned this?”

Her eyes darted away. “No. They were only joking.”

Victoria rose and walked over to her.

“You love jokes, don’t you? Then let me tell you one.”

She took a business card from Richard and tossed it onto the table.

“My legal team will be here at nine tomorrow morning. Delete a single record tonight, and we’ll add evidence tampering to the complaint.”

Chloe went rigid. Diana stared too.

Then Diana seemed to recognize her. Her voice began to shake. “You’re Victoria Ashford?”

An older officer looked over. “Mrs. Ashford? The attorney?”

Richard pulled Victoria’s coat more securely around her shoulders. “She hasn’t taken a case in years.”

Victoria looked at no one but Chloe.

“I’m taking this one.”
