My Fiancé Played a Couple-Swap Game, I’m Done Being The Outsider Chapter 06

He hadn’t known.

The venue, the favors, the Candy Bar, the guest list-I’d done it all.

He’d barely glanced at the budget and said,

“It’s just a ceremony. Keep it simple.”

I’d visited over twenty hotels for that “simple” ceremony.

Tasted thirty kinds of candy. Set up a Candy Bar for the guests.

Stayed up nights matching names to seats.

But he didn’t even know whose name was on the contract.

On the way back, without me handling anything, the trip fell apart.

The car wasn’t rebooked.

Luggage went unchecked.

Lilith left her passport at the hotel.

Ronan’s surfing deposit didn’t refund.

Leander grumbled, “Why didn’t Lyra wrap things up before leaving?”

Dorian looked up. “Why should she?”

Leander blinked. “She always does.”

Always.

They’d gotten used to me booking flights, checking weather, packing medicine.

Used to me settling the bill.

Used to handing me the camera at every group photo.

Used to leaving me at the extra table, on the couch, with their leftovers.

Because I’d never said no.

Ronan shrugged it off.

“She’s just making a point. Dorian can smooth it over when we get back.”

Dorian didn’t answer.

He opened my Instagram.

My last post was from six months ago.

A photo of all of them by the sea.

I wasn’t in it.

The caption: Another day behind the camera.

He’d commented back then:

Guess that’s your job from now on.

Now it cut like a blade.

I’d told them, in the lightest way I could, to look back at me.

And no one ever noticed.
