My Fiancé Kissed His “Just a Friend” in the Break Room. Oops—I Kissed Their Freedom Goodbye. Chapter 06

I gently pushed my mom’s hand aside.

“Mom. I’m fine.”

I looked at Ronan and Sasha.

Both of them were wrecked. Bruised. Swollen. Bleeding.

My face didn’t move.

Ronan’s left eye was swollen completely shut. Blood dripped down his neck, soaking into his white shirt. Little red spots

everywhere.

Sasha wasn’t much better. Her right cheek was puffed up like a balloon. Her lip was split in two places. But she was still fighting. Still screaming.

“Let go of me!” She twisted in the bodyguards’ grip. “This is ASSAULT! I’m calling the police! I’m getting a lawyer! I’ll have every single one of you put in jail!”

My dad finally spoke. His voice was calm. Too calm.

“Call the police?” He pulled out his phone and dropped it at Sasha’s feet. “Go ahead. Call them.”

Sasha hesitated.

I stepped forward and stood next to my dad. Gently tugged his sleeve.

“Dad. Stop. Let’s at least make it look like we follow the law.”

He looked at me, and his whole face softened. Just like that.

Sasha snapped her head up at my words. Her eyes were full of pure hatred.

“Look at you, Vera.” Her voice dripped with venom. “Playing the good guy now? You have your dad beat people up while you stand there talking about the law? Your whole family is-”

‘I cut her off.

“You’re the one breaking the law. Throwing things out windows is illegal.”

She blinked.

“You threw my tablet out the twentieth-floor window. There’s a sidewalk down there. People walk there.”

Sasha looked like I’d just insulted her entire bloodline. Because here I was, in the middle of all this, talking about littering.

She bent down, picked up the phone, and spat out, “Fine. I’ll call the police right now. Let’s see who gets the worse sentence.”

But my mom gasped. Dramatic. Hand over her heart.

“Oh my God, I almost forgot.” She smiled. “Honey, the power went out in the office today. The whole floor. The security cameras? All down.”

She gave Sasha her signature innocent look. The one that said I know exactly what I’m doing and you can’t touch me.

“You can’t accuse us of assault, sweetheart.”

She straightened her dress. “Why would a public company CEO like me lay a hand on someone like you? My assets apprecia by the second. You’re nobody.”

Sasha glared at my mom. Her lips were trembling. Blood still dripping.

“You did hit me. Look at my face. These bruises are evidence. You can’t lie your way out of it.”

My mom straightened up and spread her hands wide.

She looked at the thirty bodyguards. Then at my dad. Then back at Sasha.

“Hit you?” She tilted her head. “Who hit anyone? There are thirty-three of us here. Every single one is a witness.”

She paused for effect.

“What we saw was the two of you beating each other up in the break room.”

She pointed at Ronan, then at Sasha.

“You two had a fight. A lovers’ quarrel. You’re a couple breaking up. You got into it in the break room. Our employees tried to break it up, and you cursed them out for it.”

Sasha was shaking with rage now. Her whole body trembled.

“We’re not boyfriend and girlfriend!” she screamed. “He’s my friend. Just a friend. You’re twisting everything!”

My mom tilted her head the other way. Sweet as poison.

“Oh really?” She smiled. “Then why were you kissing him?”

“The break room camera was down, sure. But plenty of employees saw you kiss him. With your mouth. On his mouth. While he’s engaged to my daughter.”

She stepped closer to Sasha. Not threatening. Just… enjoying herself.

“So tell me, sweetheart. If you’re not a homewrecker… why were you kissing someone else’s fiancé?”
