My Fiance Claimed to Be from a Parallel Universe to Sleep with My Bestie Chapter 03

As I was thinking about that, the smart lock beeped as someone used the fingerprint scanner, and the door opened.

Marcus walked in with one hand holding Celeste’s and the other dragging a suitcase.

When he saw me, he instinctively started to let go of Celeste.

Then, as if remembering something, his expression went cold again when he looked at me.

“Celeste likes this condo. Starting today, she’ll be moving in.”

“But you are the girlfriend of the Marcus from this timeline, so I won’t just abandon you. I rented another place for you.”

“So I’m supposed to fall at your feet in gratitude?”

I slowly stood up and stared straight into his eyes.

“Marcus, we rented this place together when we first started the company.”

“Once the company started doing well, you bought it. You said this home meant something different because it was a testament to our love.”

“Now you’re bringing the other woman into our home and letting her overwrite every memory we ever had here.”

“Then what was everything we went through together supposed to mean?”

I had always thought I was strong enough to survive every grievance and every heartbreak.

But in that moment, no one knew better than I did how it felt to have pain eat through my chest like acid.

For once, Marcus fell silent.

Memory flickered in his eyes.

But Celeste wrapped her arms around his waist.

“Marcus, you promised me that no matter what I asked for, you would say yes.”

The hesitation in Marcus’s eyes disappeared.

He turned to me, his face blank.

“I’ll call movers for you right now.”

But what flashed through my mind was something he had once said to me.

“You will always be the woman this home belongs to.”

All those promises from the past suddenly felt as distant as some absurd dream.

“That won’t be necessary.”

I kept packing.

“Marcus, every promise you ever made me, I’ll forget for you.”

And that includes you.

Panic flashed across Marcus’s face.

He seemed to be trying to salvage something.

“Celeste might only be staying here temporarily.”

I only found it laughable.

“So she borrows the home we were supposed to build our marriage in, and what, borrows you for the night too?”

“And what makes you think I’ll still want you when you decide to come back?”

“Nora!”

He reached for me.

But Celeste had already tugged him away, eager to discuss how she wanted to renovate the place.

I looked away.

This was the ninety-seventh time.
