My Family Stole My Alpha, I Married Someone Stronger Chapter 09

istinctively pulled my two children behind me and warily looked at the person who had suddenly appeared.

was Brianna.

e looked considerably more haggard than before, her once radiant appearance long gone.

atie, I know you did all this to get revenge on me. You wanted me divorced and stripped of my Luna title.”

Arianna desperately tried to maintain her usual gentle, considerate tone, but hatred seeped through every

word.

She was like a rabbit she’d spent half her life keeping under her thumb, only to discover that it could bite

back.

Now that you’ve gotten what you wanted, surely you’ve calmed down, right?”

I can’t go back to Mom’s. She thinks I’ve disgraced the family. But we’re sisters, Katie. Please…”

She paused, lowering her voice and putting on a pitiful expression.

Could you let me stay with you?”

As she spoke, her gaze slipped past my shoulder and landed on the two children.

These must be my nephew and niece, right?”

She immediately forced a warm smile and reached out to them.

I’m your aunt. Could you help me ask your mommy to forgive me? If she’ll let me stay, I promise I’ll be very

good to you both.”

frowned.

Enough. Don’t try your usual tricks on my children.”

The smile vanished from Brianna’s face.

She straightened her back and dropped the act altogether.

You have to help me.”

She stared at me, her voice dripping with undisguised menace.

If you refuse, I’ll stay outside Lycan Castle and wait for Nicholas.”

“Men care about their pride, and they’re easily moved by a sob story. Tell me, if I spend tonight crying and

begging him to take me in, do you think he’ll eventually feel sorry for me and bring me home?”

The more she spoke, the more pleased with herself she became, as though she could already see everything working out in her favor.

“And what if I make a scene here and let everyone know that the Lycan King’s wife has such a terrible

relationship with her own sister? Don’t you think he’ll feel you’ve embarrassed him? That you’ve damaged the

reputation of the Lycan Royal family?”

I seriously doubted it.

When Nicholas’s stepmother once showed up at Lycan Castle with her illegitimate son to cause a scene, he had simply sat inside, leisurely drinking afternoon tea and enjoying the show.

When the mother and son had shouted themselves hoarse, he even instructed his Beta to bring them some

water.

The next day, when he discovered that their voices were practically gone, he had another set of supplies

delivered: a sound amplification system.

By the third day, he’d gone so far as to have his Beta set up livestreaming equipment outside the castle.

After that, the mother and son never came back.

Nicholas had even called to invite them to return and continue their performance, but neither of them would

take the bait.

He’d been so disappointed that he’d slapped his thigh in regret, complaining that he’d missed a golden

opportunity to promote the Lycans.

He’d even come up with the perfect livestream title: Watch Me Keep My Stepson Under My Thumb for Life.

So if Brianna really dared to cause a scene, I suspected Nicholas wouldn’t feel embarrassed at all.

He’d probably have the livestream equipment ready in minutes and give the broadcast a title like Family

Feuds: A Sister’s Revenge, Settled at Last.

The thought amused me so much that I actually offered her some sincere advice.

“Go ahead. Be my guest.”

“Just because you can’t even get into the castle where I live doesn’t mean you’ll be able to get anywhere near

Nicholas.”

“At most, you’ll get to make a scene out here. The midday sun has been pretty brutal these past couple of days, so I’d suggest arriving early to avoid getting sunburned.”

The moment I finished speaking, Brianna’s face turned livid.

She glared at me, her chest heaving as she struggled to contain her fury. For several seconds, she couldn’t

even manage a response.

I couldn’t be bothered to entertain her any longer. I led the children around her and walked straight into the

castle.

As we passed the entrance, I made a point of instructing the Lycan warriors on duty that from now on, any relatives or former members of my old pack who tried to use my name to gain entry should be turned away, just like Nicholas’s unwelcome relatives.

That evening, Nicholas returned home from handling Lycan affairs and heard what had happened.

He immediately slapped his thigh in excitement.

He snatched my phone, called Brianna himself, and spoke with such apparent sincerity that he sounded as

though he were inviting an honored guest to a formal reception.

“Brianna, I heard you’re planning to make a scene outside our castle?”

“Come right ahead! I’ll make sure you get the best camera angles, with a 360-degree livestream that captures

every single expression on your face. I guarantee everyone will see it all.”

Brianna was so furious that she hung up on him.

Nicholas handed my phone back, letting out a deeply regretful sigh.

“What a shame. That would’ve been incredible traffic and publicity! It could even have strengthened communication between Lycans and werewolves. What a wonderful diplomatic opportunity.”

As the days passed, Mom’s health continued to deteriorate.

She began reaching out to me herself, begging me to come home and see her.

I never agreed. I simply hired a caregiver to look after her daily needs.

Eventually, the only connection left between us was the note I wrote in the bank transfer memo every month when I sent her money: Support for Mom.

After Brianna’s divorce and expulsion from her pack, she went on countless blind dates.

After all her twists and turns, she eventually chose Derek after all.

The day her bonding ceremony invitation arrived, the four of us were sitting around the dinner table, enjoying our evening meal.

Nicholas glanced at the invitation and casually asked, “Going?”

I set it aside and continued eating.

“No.”

Regrets in life are like a river flowing east.

No matter how desperately someone tries to hold them back, the current will never reverse.

Some things happened so long ago that it might seem as though they’re behind us, but that doesn’t mean

they’ve truly been put to rest.

And now, living my own life to the fullest is the best way I can finally say goodbye to the past.
