My Family Played Poor While Spoiling My Sister? Sorry, I’m the Real Heiress! Chapter 06

Whispers surged through the crowd again.

“The lab report was crystal clear! The probability Lorelei shares biological ties with them was only

0.67%!”

“They’re trying to pass off their adopted daughter as the real heiress to grab the Finch fortune!’

“I take back everything I said earlier. These two make every other abusive guardian look like

saints.”

“Did they really think they could fool the Finches? This isn’t some small-town scam-it’s federal

fraud!”

The faint smiles on my parents’ faces froze.

Dad’s lips trembled, his eyes darting frantically. “Mr. Finch, let’s run another DNA test! The hospital staff were swamped; they might have mixed up the samples.”

“Exactly!” Mom rushed to back him up. “Confirming blood relations is a life-altering matter. The girls have such similar names–we can’t risk misidentifying anyone. We’re fully willing to redo the

test!”

Chase let out a quiet laugh. “And who exactly are you? Do you get to decide when lab results are wrong?”

He leaned forward, his tone heavy with unspoken pressure. “Since when do you get to decide who

carries Finch blood?”

The words landed like a stinging slap across my parents’ faces.

At that moment, Chase’s assistant stepped forward, holding out a sealed manila folder.

“Since you distrust the testing facility in New York, I arranged a separate DNA analysis back in Washington D.C.”

He unsealed the folder and extracted the official report. “The results confirm Lorelei is my long-lost biological sister, missing for eighteen years.”

“If Mr. and Mrs. Myers insist on repeating the test, am I justified to suspect you plan to tamper with the samples? Or rather-have you already tampered with them?”

“Mr. Finch…”

“Mr. Myers.” The assistant tucked the paperwork away and spoke slowly. “Falsifying federally certified DNA records is a felony. You’re looking at up to ten years in federal prison.”

“Think carefully before you answer Mr. Finch.”

Color drained instantly from my parents’ faces. Their mouths opened and shut repeatedly, yet not a

single word escaped.

A faint, satisfied smile touched Chase’s lips. He slipped off his trench coat and draped it over my shoulders. “Come along, Lily. I’m taking you home.”

“No-” Harper lunged toward me in desperation, only to be blocked firmly by Chase’s bodyguards. “You’ve got the wrong sister! Lorelei is lying to you. I’m the real Finch hei—’

Harper’s shout was cut short as the door of Chase’s stretched limousine slammed shut.

Her voice faded into nothingness, swallowed by the closing door.
