My Family Played Poor While Spoiling My Sister? Sorry, I’m the Real Heiress! Chapter 05

Chase stepped forward from the crowd in a tailored black trench coat.

The instant he halted before me, the “deranged” hostage-taker straightened up, stepped back, and

bowed slightly. “Mr. Finch.”

Moments later, the rural couple who’d posed as my birth parents emerged from the crowd.

The three lined up, bowed toward me as one, and spoke in unison. “We’re terribly sorry for frightening you, Miss Finch.”

The entire crowd stood dumbfounded.

Chase stepped closer, lifting me gently away from the rooftop ledge. “Allow me to introduce

everyone.”

He rested an arm around my shoulders, sweeping his gaze across the crowd until it landed on Harper and my parents. “This is Lillian Finch. The Finch heiress abducted eighteen years ago from Washington D.C.”

A murmur rippled through the crowd.

“The Finches? As in the Hong Kong skyline people?”

“They practically own half of D.C.!”

“I thought Lorelei was that rural couple’s daughter. How is she the missing Finch heiress?”

“Wait-the trustees were testing her this whole time!”

Harper stared, unable to process what was happening. “What’s happening? Those weren’t poor birth parents? You’re from the Finch family in D.C.? Does that mean I’m your lost sister?”

Dad and Mom exchanged a fleeting glance-not confusion, but calculation. Within seconds, their expressions shifted from shock to eager opportunism.

Dad turned to urge Harper to claim kinship with Chase, only to find her already rushing toward him. “Are you… are you my brother?”

Chase lowered his eyes. Disgust, irritation, and revulsion swirled in his gaze-not a flicker of warmth from reuniting with family. “And you are?”

Harper froze, grabbing onto his arm. “Don’t you recognize me? You came searching for me. I’m

Lily-your sister Lily!”

Chase pulled his arm free, his expression cold and distant.

“Miss…” His lips curved in a faint smile, but his eyes were glacial. “You may speak freely, but choose your next words very carefully. Did you not hear my announcement?”

He glanced at me once more. “The sister I’ve spent eighteen years searching for is her.”

Harper’s eyes widened in dawning horror. Only now did she fully grasp how foolish her scheming

had been.

She pointed a trembling finger at me, screaming shrilly. “Don’t fall for that liar’s tricks! Her name is Lorelei Myers. She’s Daniel and Nadia’s biological daughter. I’m their adopted child—I’m the sister you’re hunting for!”

“That’s correct, Mr. Finch!” My parents hurried forward, pasting on obsequious smiles. “You’ve made a mistake. Lorelei is our birth daughter. Harper is the long-lost heiress you seek.”

“Exactly!” Mom rushed to back them up. “We noticed long ago how different Harper is from ordinary people. Her poise and mannerisms mark her as high society. Lorelei cannot compare.’

“We treated her well all these years, hoping we could return Harper to her blood family one day.”

“Is that so?” Chase smiled faintly. “The DNA results were broadcast live for everyone to see. Lorelei

shares no blood tie with either of you.”
