Ryan and Ethan rushed upstairs.

When they saw the shallow cut on Chloe’s wrist, their eyes turned bloodshot.

Without another word, they carried her to Ashcroft Medical Center.

Owen followed close behind, clutching Chloe’s hand as tears streamed down his face.

“Mommy Chloe… please don’t die…”

The doctor treated the wound within minutes.

Chloe lay on the hospital bed. Her eyes were red and swollen. Her face was full of grievance.

“Ryan, Ethan. Please don’t blame Evelyn.”

“It’s my fault. I’ve taken so much from her. I don’t blame her for hating me.”

Before she could finish, Ethan exploded.

“That vicious woman! How dare she drive Chloe to this! She should’ve just died in that basement!”

Ryan’s expression darkened. Every trace of warmth in his eyes had vanished.

“Don’t cry, Chloe. I’ll make her come here right now. I’ll make her kneel and apologize to you.”

He called me over and over again.

Dozens of calls. None were answered.

Finally, furious, he dialed Daniel Brooks.

The assistant’s voice trembled on the other end.

“Mr. Mercer. Miss Bennett hasn’t been to Mercer Group for over two weeks. Several major projects have already fallen apart…”

“Miss Chloe kept stopping me. She said she didn’t want you worrying, so she wouldn’t let me tell you…”

Chloe’s eyes instantly filled with tears. She looked utterly wronged.

“I thought Evelyn was just throwing a tantrum. I figured she’d come back in a few days. I never imagined she’d leave such a mess behind.”

“She can hurt me all she wants. But Mercer Group is everything you and Ethan have worked so hard to build!”

“This time, she’s gone too far! Ethan, Ryan, you have to teach her a lesson!”

“You have to teach her a lesson.”

Ryan’s face grew even colder. His voice dripped with disappointment.

“That vicious woman! Destroying Chloe’s reputation wasn’t enough, now she’s trying to ruin everything we’ve built! She’s completely unreasonable!”

Owen’s little face flushed red with anger. He clenched his teeth.

“Bad woman! She keeps hurting Mommy Chloe! She’s not my mommy anymore!”

Ethan was shaking so hard that the veins stood out across his forehead.

“I’m cutting ties with her. From today on, my only sister is Chloe!”

By then, I had gone completely numb. I couldn’t even feel the pain anymore.

I simply hovered in the air, watching the three of them hold a high-profile press conference at the Ashcroft Press Center to clear Chloe’s name.

“The rumors online are completely false. Evelyn Bennett deliberately spread lies to frame Chloe!”

Ryan stepped forward, holding up a wedding photo—him and Chloe, side by side.

“My wife has always been Chloe! Evelyn Bennett has been the one chasing after me this entire time! She refused to let go!”

Next, Ethan showed a DNA test report. His face was filled with disgust.

“Chloe is my real sister. Evelyn Bennett tried to steal her place in this family. She wanted everything that belonged to Chloe!”

Owen hugged Chloe’s arm tightly. Looking straight into the cameras, he shouted without hesitation,

“My mommy has always been Chloe! I don’t even know Evelyn Bennett! She’s a bad woman!”

Camera flashes exploded across the room. Reporters snapped photos nonstop. The crowd erupted in fury.

“How can someone be so shameless?”

“Evelyn Bennett is nothing but a disgusting homewrecker! Get out of Ashcroft City!”

“Get out of Ashcroft City!”

Listening to the insults crashing over me, I noticed the smile Chloe had tried so hard to suppress.

She couldn’t hide her triumph any longer.

Then—

Police sirens echoed from outside.

The doors to the press conference burst open.

Several officers walked inside. One of them carried an evidence bag.

Inside it was a bloodstained knife.

The lead officer stopped in front of Ryan, Ethan, and Owen. His expression was solemn.

“We found Evelyn Bennett’s body in the basement.”

“We currently suspect that the three of you may be involved in a homicide investigation. Please come with us.”
