My Ex Thought I Still Loved Him, I Was Already Married Rich Chapter 09

Adrian Blackwood took off his overcoat, wrapped it around me, and pulled me fully into his arms.

The familiar scent of his cologne enveloped me at once.

In that instant, the fear that had been holding my heart hostage finally loosened its grip.

“Honey.”

I buried my face in his chest and broke down sobbing.

When he saw the burn on my arm, his eyes filled with pain.

“I’m sorry, baby. I’m late.”

Just then, a cold male voice rang out.

“What happened here?”

I lifted my head and saw Julian hurrying over.

When he saw me leaning against Adrian’s chest, his brows drew together.

Adrian swept a cold glance over him and Mr. Carlisle Sr., then said in a deep voice, “You kidnapped my wife and were about to force her into a psychiatric facility.”

“Don’t you think you owe me an explanation?”

Mr. Carlisle Sr. gave a derisive laugh.

“An explanation? Who the hell do you think you are to demand one from me?”

Julian’s expression, however, had completely changed.

Most likely, it was because he recognized the man standing before him.

Adrian Blackwood.

The man in control of Blackwood Capital.

One of the top ten people on the Forbes Billionaires List.

He was also the major client Julian’s firm had been desperately trying to win over for years, though they had never even managed to get a meeting with him.

But Julian probably never could have imagined that Adrian would appear here, let alone call me his wife.

Julian stepped forward, his face dark.

“Mr. Blackwood, if you’re only stepping in because you think she’s being wronged, there’s no need to lie for her like that.”

The air went silent for a moment.

Adrian looked as if he had been angered into laughter.

He took out his phone, unlocked it, and revealed his lock screen.

It was a wedding photo.

In the photo, I was wearing a wedding dress and smiling happily.

Adrian stood behind me with his arms around me, lowering his head to kiss the top of my hair.

The tenderness in his eyes was almost overflowing.

It was nothing like the cold, terrifying man standing here now.

Adrian lifted his gaze and said through gritted teeth, “Nora is my lawfully wedded wife. Who gave you the nerve to treat her like this?”

Julian froze where he stood, staring hard at the wedding photo.

It was obvious he still could not believe I had already married someone else.

Adrian was too impatient to waste any more words on them. He put his phone away and spoke coldly.

“Since you don’t want to explain yourselves to me, you can explain it to the police.”

As soon as he finished speaking, several officers rushed in and went straight to Mr. Carlisle Sr.

“Mr. Carlisle Sr., please come with us for questioning.”

Mr. Carlisle Sr. finally panicked.

“Do you know who I am? No one in New York dares touch me!”

Adrian let out a soft scoff, his gaze contemptuous, as if he were looking at garbage.

“Is that so? Then today, that changes.”

After saying that, he lowered his head to look at me, and his voice softened.

“Baby, you don’t have to be scared anymore. I’m taking you home.”

I stared at him, my vision blurred with tears.

Adrian scooped me up bridal-style and was about to get into the car.

But just as the door was about to close, Julian suddenly called out to me.

“Nora!”

It was the first time I had ever seen him so shaken.

I did not look back.

Not even once.

I tightened my arms around Adrian’s neck and said hoarsely, “Honey, I’m so tired. I want to go home.”

Adrian looked down at me in his arms.

The terrifying coldness on his face from moments ago softened instantly.

“Okay. We’re going home.”
