My Ex Thought I Still Loved Him, I Was Already Married Rich Chapter 04

A clear handprint quickly appeared on Julian’s pale face.

He barely reacted, but Sophia was the first to lose control.

“Nora!”

She screamed, snatched the cup of coffee from the nearby table, and hurled it at me.

I instinctively raised my arm to shield my face, and the scalding liquid splashed across my skin.

A violent burning pain exploded through me, and my face went white.

A large patch of my arm turned red almost instantly. Blisters were already beginning to rise.

Sophia’s eyes were bloodshot as she shrieked, “You can hit me if you want, but what gives you the right to hit my fiancé? Who do you think you are?”

The employees watching immediately crowded closer.

“Oh my God. Look what she pushed our future Mrs. Shaw into doing.”

“She deserved it, didn’t she? She was the one who hit someone first.”

“Exactly. Mr. Shaw is way too patient. I would have called the police already.”

My whole body was trembling from the pain, but I still stared Sophia down.

“That was assault. I’m calling the police.”

Sophia’s expression shifted slightly.

But very soon, Julian reached out and clasped my wrist.

He lowered his gaze to my burned arm, and his brows drew together.

“Stop making a scene. Come to my office first so we can treat the burn.”

I shook off his hand.

“Get away from me.”

Julian’s face darkened.

“Nora, do you really have to blow this up?”

I was so angry that I laughed.

“I’m the one blowing this up?”

“I’m the one who was slapped, and I’m the one who had coffee thrown on me!”

“So what now? Is the great Mr. Shaw going to turn right and wrong upside down again, just like he did back then?”

Julian’s breath caught. After a moment of silence, he said in a low voice, “Calling the police now won’t do anything except make you look worse.”

“Treat the wound first. Don’t let it scar.”

I ignored him, took out my phone, and called the police.

Twenty minutes later, the officers arrived.

As soon as the lead officer walked in and saw Julian, his face broke into an ingratiating smile.

“Mr. Shaw, you’re here too?”

His tone was so polite that it sounded less like he was responding to a call and more like he was greeting a VIP.

My heart sank inch by inch.

The receptionist walked over and smiled.

“I’m sorry, but the security cameras broke last month. We haven’t had time to fix them yet.”

The employees around us also began speaking up one after another.

“She hit him first.”

“And she’s been harassing Mr. Shaw.”

“She came here on purpose to cause trouble at the firm.”

Every single person spoke for Sophia.

Not one of them helped me.

So after all these years, nothing had changed.

When people have money and power, there is always someone willing to rewrite the truth for them.

The officer frowned.

“Ma’am, please come down to the station with us to answer a few questions.”

I could not believe what I was hearing.

“I’m the one who’s injured! You’re not arresting her, but you’re taking me in?”

The officer’s tone had already turned impatient.

“Please cooperate, or we’ll have to take you in by force.”

Just then, Julian lowered his head toward my ear and said in a deep voice, “Nora, you’ve always been so arrogant and out of control. Maybe it’s time you learned a lesson.”

I looked at his cold, indifferent face, and my heart went hollow.

I still remembered asking him back in college why he wanted to go into law.

He said it was to fight for justice and make the world a fairer place.

At that moment, I had thought he looked like he was glowing.

But now, for Sophia, he had trampled the law again and again.

He had trampled me too.

The Julian I had once loved felt like nothing more than a dream from my youth.

Once I woke up, not a trace of it remained.

I was taken to a detention center, and my phone was confiscated.

I asked, “Can someone help me contact my husband?”
