My Dad Chose My Aunt 10 Times, Unaware I Stripped His Billion Legacy Chapter 02

Nathaniel’s eyes narrowed. Without warning, he grabbed Mom and yanked her into the car.

“Nathaniel! What are you doing?!”

Mom stumbled into the backseat with me in her arms.

Her voice trembled with pain, but she kept me pressed tight against her.

Nathaniel climbed in after us with Fiona beside him.

His expression was full of careless arrogance.

“Stop with the theatrics, Eliza. I already said I’d pick you next time.”

I saw it clear as day-the smile freezing on Fiona’s face, and the contempt in Nathaniel’s eyes.

“Didn’t you say you wanted to go home?”

“The medicine’s there. Let’s go get it.”

My lips parted.

Then I felt Mom gently stroke the top of my head.

I swallowed back both my tears and my words.

Mom had told me before-Dad would never believe us.

No matter how much we tried to explain, he’d only grow more disgusted.

And my sick body was already enough of a burden on her.

I couldn’t make things worse.

Just three more days. I only had to endure three more days.

When we arrived at Ashford Manor, I realized everything had changed.

The yard was filled with red roses.

Not a single lavender flower remained.

The woman in the wedding portraits hanging on the walls was no longer Mom.

And my bedroom had been converted into Fiona’s walk-in closet.

Mom and I stood there.

This had once been the little home they’d built together, brick by brick.

Now it felt so foreign we might as well have been intruders.

Fiona, meanwhile, stood there polished to perfection.

She graciously invited Mom to sit, then calmly produced a vial and walked toward me.

“Vivienne, let me give you your medicine.”

As she spoke, she yanked me over-so hard I couldn’t break free.

The moment Mom saw the off-color liquid, her face went pale.

“Stop! Fiona-what are you giving her?!”

But Nathaniel’s expression darkened. He grabbed Mom’s wrist.

“What’s with the hysterics? Fiona’s kindly giving her medicine.”

“Do you have to make a scene over everything?”

Under Mom’s terrified gaze, Fiona forced the medicine down my throat.

I immediately started coughing, my face turned bright red.

Then came the burning pain-ripping through my body in waves.

“Mom… It hurts…”

The moment I hit the floor, Mom’s eyes went wide with horror.

She somehow tore free of Nathaniel’s grip, shoved Fiona aside, and threw her arms around me.

“It’s okay. Don’t be scared, Vivi. I’m here…”

Her face was raw with terror-the terror of losing me.

“I don’t care what you people want. I’m taking Vivi to a doctor right now-”

Before Nathaniel could respond, Fiona’s eyes welled up.

“Eliza, I know you hate me, but teaching Vivienne to fake being sick? On my wedding day?”

The concern in Nathaniel’s eyes vanished instantly. Only anger remained.

“Eliza!” His voice thundered through the room.

“What the hell are you teaching this child?”

“Keep this up and I’ll throw you both right back to the slums!”

The next second, he slapped Mom across the face.

Mom staggered back, her whole body trembling nonstop.

The phone she’d been trying to dial clattered to the floor.

Nathaniel crushed it under his heel-completely.

Cold tears splashed onto my face.

Through the haze of pain, I heard Mom’s desperate voice.

“Does this look like she’s faking?”

“Nathaniel! She hasn’t had her medication in a year-and now she’s been forced to take God knows

what-”

Her broken words drifted into my ears.

Curled in Mom’s arms, I couldn’t stop crying.

Then Nathaniel let out a mocking laugh.

“The medicine and monthly payments were delivered on time, every single month.”

“If you’re going to slander Fiona, at least come up with something better.”

Mom’s breath caught. Shock flickered across her face.

But before she could speak, Nathaniel’s patience had already run dry.

He ordered the bodyguards to drag us out-and they threw us out the door.

The rain started pouring from the sky without warning.

Mom wrapped her arms around me as we fell into the mud.

Her legs were covered in scrapes and blood.

I took a shaky breath.

Then I reached up and touched her face. It was ice cold.

“Mom…” I whispered softly.

“Don’t be scared… I’m okay…”

“You’re going home soon… Don’t cry…”

Rain and tears blurred together on my face.

I couldn’t tell them apart anymore.

Then I heard Mom’s voice break.

“Vivi… Please-please be okay…”
