My Cold Infertile CEO Regretted Everything After Ten Miscarriages Chapter 11

My Cold Infertile CEO Regretted Everything After Ten Miscarriages Chapter 11

“Ten miscarriages destroyed her uterus,” Marnie said flatly.

“What do you think you gave her every time? Poison. You fed her poison for years. Now you want her to give

you a child? The world doesn’t work that way.”

Elias’s hands shook. Soup spilled and burned his skin, but he didn’t react.

“I didn’t know…” he mumbled.”I had no idea it would be like this…”

“You didn’t know?” Marnie laughed coldly.”Are you a doctor?”

“No…”

“Then why did you force her to drink that stuff? You think miscarriages don’t ruin a body? Imagine going

through that ten times.”

Elias couldn’t speak.

The rain poured harder.

Marnie turned and went inside, closing the door.

Elias stood in the rain, holding the now-cold soup, completely still.

The rain stopped in the middle of the night.

I pulled a coat around me and went to the window. He was still there, like a tree drowned in rain.

Most of the soup was gone, but he still clutched the bowl. His lips were purple with cold. He could barely

stand.

I pushed the window open.”Leave.”

He snapped his head up. When he saw me, his eyes turned red.

“I’m sorry.”

I didn’t answer.

“I know I’m a monster. I know I don’t deserve you… but please, give me one chance.”

His voice shook.”Just let me see you. Let me say I’m sorry to your face.”

“I don’t need to. I heard you.”

“Heard what?”

“I heard you say outside the operating room that it was my own fault I couldn’t keep a baby.”

“I heard you tell the board that miscarriages happen, and there would be more.”

Tears finally broke free.

“What do you want me to do? Kneel and beg?”

He dropped to his knees suddenly. His knees hit the stone path with a heavy thud. “I’m kneeling Are you

happy now?”

I watched him kneel there, soaked and broken.

I felt nothing.

“You’ve knelt many times. Every time to make me forgive you. But Elias, you never asked if I could forgive

you.”

He looked up, tears mixing with rain.

“I didn’t miscarry ten times so you could kneel.”I really thought you’d change. But you didn’t. Not ever.”

I closed the window.

Behind me, he called my name, over and over.

I didn’t turn around.

The next morning, Marnie told me he’d collapsed at the gate.

I told her to carry him to the woodshed, wrap him in blankets, and feed him ginger soup.

When he woke up, I told her to send him away.

“Aren’t you going to keep him?” Marnie asked.

“No.”

“He seems truly sorry.”

“His regret isn’t my problem anymore.”
