My Cold Infertile CEO Regretted Everything After Ten Miscarriages Chapter 10

After a year of searching, they finally got a tip:l was in Pinecrest Hollow.

She bought a plane ticket at once and flew to the remote mountain hollow.

I barely recognized her when I met her at the gate.

A year ago, she’d been a proud, domineering matriarch.

Now she was nothing but skin and bones, hair fully white, eyes sunken into her skull.

When Elowen saw me, light flared in her eyes.

I stood in the gateway and didn’t move.”What are you doing here?”

Her lips trembled. She dropped to her knees.”I’m begging you to come home.”

I didn’t move.

“Elias… he’s falling apart. The company’s gone. The money’s gone. He locks himself inside and won’t eat or

drink.”

Tears streamed down Elowen’s face.”I know I hurt you. I sold you. I was wrong. I’m so sorry. Please just see

him… just once…”

“Is he dead?” I asked.

Elowen stared, stunned.

“If he’s not dead, I don’t need to see him.”

“How can you be so cruel?” Elowen’s voice cracked.”He’s your ex-husband. You were together for three years.

I cut her off.”I miscarried ten times in those three years.”

Elowen’s face burned red. She couldn’t speak.

“When you sold me to the Caribbean, did you think I might die?” My voice was calm.”You did. You just didn’t

care.”

I turned and walked into the hollow.

“Wait!” Elowen shouted behind me.”Tell me how you got pregnant! Doctors say Elias can’t have children! How did you do it?”

I stopped and glanced back.”Guess.”

Elowen stood frozen.

She would never know about the Fertility Charm.

She didn’t deserve to.

By the time Elias found the hollow, it was late autumn.

Leaves covered the ground, crunching underfoot.

He’d lost so much weight, his skin sallow. He didn’t step past the gate. He just stared at the herbs I’d planted

outside for a long, long time.

“I know you’re here.”

His voice was rough, unrecognizable.

I didn’t go out.

He stood there all day. From sunrise to sunset, from light to dark.

Rain fell at night. He stood in it, soaked to the bone.

Marnie stepped onto the porch, sighed, and carried out a bowl of hot soup.

He took it but didn’t drink. He just held it.

“She won’t see you,” Marnie said.

“I know.”

“Then why don’t you leave?”

“I don’t know where else to go.”

He stared at the ground.”She left no address, no direction. I had to search until I found her. Now that I have, I

can’t leave.”

Marnie was quiet for a moment.”Are you here to make her have children… or because you miss her?”

“What difference does it make?”

“It makes all the difference.”

“If you want a baby, give up. She can’t have children anymore. If you want her… you’re too late.”

Elias lifted his head. Rain streamed down his face.

“She… can’t have children anymore?”
