My CEO Husband Let Her Ruin Our Wedding Live Chapter 05

When I woke up, Stellan was by the window, on the phone.

“Is Lyse okay?”

“She’s not trying anything stupid again, right?”

“Mirelle collapsed. I can’t leave the hospital. You handle it. Shut everything down online.”

“I don’t care what it costs. Nothing gets back to her.”

I pulled the blanket over my face.

It didn’t help.

The last flood of comments kept replaying in my head.

That I was delusional.

That I’d do anything for views.

That I was the one who interfered in someone else’s relationship.

People had dug through Stellan’s entire social media history.

All they saw was Lysette. Not a single trace of me.

I knew.

I’d always known.

“Stellan.”

My voice came out quiet.

I stared at his back, unfocused. “Does your conscience ever bother you?”

He turned sharply, ended the call, and came over to the bed, crouching down until we were eye level.

“Mirelle, I didn’t have a choice.”

“Lyse got pushed to the edge. She almost—” He stopped, swallowed. “I owe her. I can’t just stand by.”

My hand came up.

The slap landed clean.

The IV line tore loose from my wrist, blood splattering across his face as his head snapped to the side.

“So I’m the one who’s supposed to pay for it?”

I was so tired.

Tired of pretending not to see.

Tired of swallowing everything.

Tired of holding onto fifteen years that only mattered to me.

I’d spent too long asking him questions he would never answer.

What was the point anymore.

“…Just go.”

“Let’s pretend we never met.”

His eyes tightened as he instinctively reached for my hand.

I pulled away.

“Mirelle, just give me some time, okay?”

“When this blows over, I’ll fix everything. I’ll tell the truth. I’ll give you the wedding you deserve. We can start over.”

I’d heard it all before.

Believed it all before.

“I swear,” he said quickly. “From now on, you come first. I’ll do whatever you say. I owe you—”

His phone rang.

He froze for a second, then picked up.

“Stellan! Lyse is asking for you, she won’t stop crying!”

“She’s not stable right now. You need to get here.”

I let out a quiet laugh and grabbed his wrist.

“Didn’t you just say you’d listen to me?”

“Then don’t go.”

Voices shouted on the other end.

“Stellan! She’s at the window again!”

He shook me off instantly. Got to his feet and rushed out without looking back.

Exactly what I expected.

I didn’t try to stop him.

I picked up my phone and called Gareth.

“Move up the transfer.”

“I’ll book my own flight. I’m leaving tonight.”
