My Bully Mocked Me in Front of the CEO So I Destroyed Her in Seven Languages Chapter 11

A week later, the East Ridge deal moved into phase two.

Caleb wanted me at East Ridge twice a week to handle the fine-print and the multilingual heavy lifting with the Middle

Eastern partners.

Caleb’s assistant met me every single time.

Arthur-the guy with the gold-rimmed glasses.

Arthur was polite-honestly, a little too polite.

“Ms. Levis, Mr. Sterling had me set this up for you.”

It was a private office with massive south-facing windows. Great light.

“This is overkill. I’m just here for the coordination.”

“Mr. Sterling insisted. Only the best for you.”

I let it go.

Caleb dragged me into every meeting.

One minute it was Arabic for a video call with the UAE.

The next, it was Japanese for a supplier check-in.

Once, a Korean partner tried to flip the script in an email. East Ridge didn’t have anyone on staff who spoke the language.

“Hazel, you wouldn’t happen to know Korean, too?” Arthur asked.

“Yes.”

“…Is there anything you ‘can’t’ do?”

“I can’t cook for shit.”

Arthur blinked, then cracked a smile.

I shredded that Korean email in ten minutes.

Caleb read the draft and said exactly one thing.

“Hazel, I’m asking you for the third time.”

“Yeah?”

“Come work for East Ridge.”

“Mr. Sterling-”

“Eight hundred grand a year. VP of International Biz. You report only to me.”

Eight hundred thousand dollars.

With my current salary and bonuses, I was barely scratching a hundred and fifty.

“I’m still-”

“You don’t have to decide right now. But let’s be real: GTS is way too small for you.”

He went back to his files before I could even blink.

I sat there in that sun-drenched office.

Looking out at the whole city skyline.

I thought about my crappy apartment and the window that rattled in the wind.

Back at GTS that afternoon, the vibe was off.

Everyone was looking at me like I had two heads.

Chloe pulled me aside.

“Something happened.”

“What?”

“Wendy went to Joseph to rat you out.”

“For what?”

“She’s claiming that while you were at East Ridge, you leaked our internal pricing strategy to them.”

I stopped dead.

“That’s a total lie.”

“I know. But she’s got ‘evidence’.”

“What kind of evidence?”

“She says she found a file on your machine-a screenshot of a chat between you and Arthur where you leaked the

numbers.”

“I don’t have anything like that on my computer.”

“She says you do. And Joseph saw it. He wants you in his office tomorrow morning to ‘explain yourself.”

My fists clenched.

“That so-called chat log-”

“It’s a fake.” Chloe lowered her voice. “I snuck a peek. The timestamp says last Wednesday at 2 PM. But last Wednesday at 2 PM you were in the department meeting here. Everyone saw you.”

“Then how did she-”

“She Photoshopped it. But she’s an idiot-she forgot about the battery icon in the corner. The UI in the screenshot is for an iPhone. You have an Android.”

Wendy had used her own phone to fake the shot and just slapped my avatar on it.

“Chloe, I need a favor.”

“Name it.”

“You’re in HR. Can you pull the badge-ins and the conference room logs for last Wednesday?”

“I can.”

“Get them. Also, those resort reimbursement forms for Wendy’s seventeen ‘trips’-you still got those?”

Chloe’s eyes lit up.

“Oh, I’ve got ’em. You finally ready to play hardball?”

“I’m not looking for a fight. I’m looking for a shield. If she tries to take me down, I need Joseph to know her word is worth jack-shit.”

“Copy that.”
