My Brother’s Girlfriend Set Rules For Me, Until Karma Came For Her Chapter 04

Hearing the sound, she turned around. First, she smiled at me.

“Finally. Look, I came to say sorry. What happened earlier was on me. But I’m blunt. That’s just how I am. So don’t take it personally.”

She said she was apologizing, but her body stayed sprawled on the couch without moving.

I looked at the matching couple’s slippers on her feet—my slippers—and said nothing.

She noticed my gaze and forced a smile.

“Oh, I’ll keep these slippers from now on. Grayson is my boyfriend. It’s not good for you two to wear matching couple’s slippers.”

I took a deep breath. “Where is he?”

Her eyes turned wary instantly.

“What do you want?”

I didn’t answer. I dropped the bags in my hands and walked toward his room.

Just as I was about to knock, Paige shoved me aside.

“What the hell are you doing? You’re not a kid anymore. You can’t just walk into a guy’s room like that!”

I didn’t see it coming. I slammed into the doorframe, and the pain made my eyes water. I blinked the tears back.

“This is my house. I don’t need to report to you for what I want to do.”

“Then you can’t just walk into a man’s room whenever you want!”

The door suddenly opened from inside.

Grayson stood there with his car keys. When he saw me, his eyes lit up.

“Sienna, you’re back. I was just about to go look for you. I was worried sick, you know…”

I got straight to the point and pointed at Paige. “What is she doing here?”

His expression turned awkward.

“I explained everything to Paige today. She felt bad, so she wanted to come apologize in person. I didn’t expect her to wait until now. Where did you go? Why didn’t you answer my calls?”

“Fine, she’s apologized. Can she leave now?”

“Paige looked at me like I’d just slapped her. Her eyes welled up on cue.”

“Grayson, this is my first time at your house. No one even said hi to me, and now I’m getting treated like this?”

“Fine. I’ll go. You two can have the house to yourselves. If you don’t care how it looks, be my guest.”

She started walking out, and Grayson immediately pulled her back.

When he turned to me, his face was full of guilt. “Sienna, it’s already dark out. Let her stay here tonight. There’s a guest room anyway.”

“Besides, she apologized. She meant it. Come on, don’t be mad at me anymore, okay?”

I let out a dry laugh.

That was the moment it hit me. My brother was blind. Completely blind. And this lovesick idiot needed serious help.

“Fine. She can stay as long as you want.”

That night, Paige stayed in the guest room.

But less than half an hour after lights out, I heard her complaining loudly outside Grayson’s door about the mattress being too hard and the window too small.

“Grayson, just let me sleep with you. I can’t sleep without you. And my room is all the way on the other side of the house. Who knows, maybe someone did that on purpose…”

I knew she was saying it for me to hear.

Five minutes later, she was sleeping in Grayson’s room.

I scoffed to myself.

It was her first time in our house, and she was already demanding to sleep in his bed. That was a new one.

Suddenly my phone buzzed.

It was a flight itinerary from Mom. They would arrive tomorrow.

The Whitmore Family Charter was strict. I could only imagine what Mom and Dad would say when they got home and saw this.

The next morning, I woke up to noise outside.

In the kitchen, Alma Reyes—who’d been cooking for us for years—looked grim.

“Mr. Grayson and Miss Sienna always have milk in the morning. You can’t just pour it out.”

“I already told you. Milk is bad for you. From now on, it’s soy milk.”

The bossy voice made me remember there was still an outsider in the house.

My face darkened. I strode over.

“You—”

Before I could get the words out, a short scream cut me off.

“Ah! What are you wearing?”

Following her horrified gaze, I looked down at my pajamas.

A pure white cotton nightgown hung above my ankles, clean and simple.

“Sienna, have you no shame? You’re a woman. You can’t walk around like that with a guy in the house.”

“Grayson’s gonna be up any minute. What’s he supposed to think when he sees you? Go change. Now.”

I looked at her like she was insane. “Are you sick? This is my house. Besides—”

She suddenly pointed a finger at my nose and cut me off.

“I wanted to say this last night too.”

“Sure, it’s your house for now. But you’re gonna get married someday, right? And once you’re married, you’re not a Whitmore anymore. You’ll have to move out eventually.”

“Me? I’m different. I’m marrying Grayson. I’m gonna be the lady of this house.”

“So take my advice. Listen to me. Don’t try anything.”

Behind me, Grayson, who had just walked into the dining room, tripped and fell flat.

Paige gasped and ran to help him.

I saw his face—pale, panicked. He didn’t even notice Paige next to him, on the verge of tears.

The next second, he did something that left her thunderstruck.
