My Brother’s Girlfriend Set Rules For Me, Until Karma Came For Her Chapter 03

When I started the car, Grayson chased after me.

“Sienna, get out first. You need to treat the cut on your arm…”

I didn’t even look at him. I hit the gas.

Before Paige, Grayson had only had one girlfriend.

Audrey Sterling, an old-money match—gentle, poised, classy.

During the five years they dated, Audrey Sterling treated me to countless meals and bought me plenty of expensive gifts.

She was even better to Grayson.

Their occasional sweet moments made even us outsiders happy.

But last year, when the two families were preparing the engagement, Grayson got it into his head to break up.

The reason was ridiculous. He said it was too easy. Too perfect. It got boring.

Audrey flew overseas that night to clear her head. The engagement was off.

Half a year later, Paige Mercer appeared.

I heard she was a lounge singer at a Lower East Side lounge, a college dropout, from somewhere far away.

At first Grayson just started coming home late. Then he started not coming home at night. Then he moved out alone under the excuse of independence.

My parents knew none of it.

Honestly, before I met Paige, I was curious about her.

I figured she was either drop-dead gorgeous or had one hell of a personality.

But after meeting her and spending less than ten minutes with her, I realized I was wrong.

Grayson was probably just bored of a good life and looking for drama. And he had to drag me into it.

Just as I was getting angrier, Mom called.

I slowed the car and answered. “Sienna, sweetheart, did you have a happy birthday?”

“Your dad and I told your brother to make sure you had a good birthday. I just called him and he didn’t pick up. He didn’t ditch you to go run around with those trust-fund boys, did he?”

Growing up, my parents taught me I never had to back down. And with my personality, I couldn’t just let something like that go anyway.

I didn’t know if Grayson was busy comforting Paige or thinking about how to make it up to me. It didn’t matter.

If Paige Mercer ever becomes a Whitmore, I lose.

“Mom, if you two are done over there, come back when you can. Grayson is turning on his own family.”

“Not only did he find himself a queen outside, he won’t let me call him Gary, and he’s running to someone else’s place every day.”

“Oh, and Mom, you might wanna have the family office look at his accounts. He tried to split the bill with me at our birthday dinner, and the gift he gave me? Someone else already wore it.”

The second I hung up, Mom wired a ridiculous amount of money into my account.

I called my girlfriends to go shopping, eat, and watch a movie.

During that time, Grayson called me several times. I didn’t answer. I wasn’t actually planning to play the silent-treatment game with him. I just felt the word ‘Brother’ on my screen was ruining my mood.

When I got home with a car full of birthday gifts, I actually saw Grayson’s car in the driveway.

I raised an eyebrow. Good. We needed to talk face-to-face.

But when I opened the front door, the first thing I saw was Paige lying on the couch watching TV.
