My Boyfriend Never Really Blocked His Ex Chapter 10

The day of my mom’s bypass surgery, Nathan showed up at the hospital.

He must have heard from a friend. He sat outside the OR all night.

I curled up on a chair by her bedside through the night, while he sat on a hallway bench, keeping vigil just the same.

In the morning, I walked out to him.

“Go home. We don’t need you here.”

His voice was hoarse. “I’m not leaving. If you need someone to grab coffee, run errands… you can’t do it all alone.”

He sounded so sincere. Almost desperate.

My mom coughed weakly from inside.

“Let him in.”

He walked in. I leaned against the wall, listening to their fragmented conversation through the wall.

“What are you here as, Nathan?”

A long pause. His voice cracked. “Mrs. Pearce. I don’t expect forgiveness. I just want a chance.”

“My daughter needs to be someone’s priority. Their only priority.”

Her voice was soft, but every word carried the weight of iron.

“Whatever you gave to someone else? Even a little bit? If you give it to her, it’s not the same. It’s never the first.”

Another long silence.

Then I heard Nathan’s voice, raw and broken. “I know I was late with it. But if she lets me, I’ll spend the next fifty years showing her she’s my only one.”

The second he stepped out of the room, his phone buzzed.

He glanced at the screen, jaw tightening, but still picked up.

Vanessa’s hysterical sobs blared through the speaker.

“Nathan! Get here or I’m going to kill myself!”

She sent a picture of a cut on her wrist.

Nathan called an ambulance and the police, calmly.

In the background, I heard him explain to the dispatcher: “Third time this year. If that photo is stolen from online, file harassment charges against her.”

Vanessa called back instantly. “Are you trying to destroy me?”

“I don’t care if you live or die,” Nathan said flatly.

“But if you waste even a single second of my time while I’m trying to win Lena back, I swear you’ll never dare show your face around me again.”

He hung up. Turned around.

I was standing right there.

I stepped toward him, voice calm and unshakable.

“You find her behavior repulsive, don’t you?”

“That’s exactly what you look like to me now.”

“A good ex should stay dead and buried. Stop haunting me.”

Nathan froze. His face went white.

His lips moved soundlessly, trembling, but no words came out.
