My Best Friend Slept With My Mafia Husband Chapter 06

## Alarion’s POV

He whipped around, about to chase after them and ask for details, when his phone suddenly rang.

It was his assistant.

“Don Veyne, we have a problem.”

Alarion’s chest sank hard.

His assistant’s voice was very low.

“Word has gotten out that after Donna was beaten and humiliated by those men in the twentieth-floor private room, she slit her wrist.”

“What did you say?”

Alarion’s voice rose sharply.

The entire hallway went silent.

“Don, the news came from the waiter assigned to the room. We haven’t fully confirmed whether it’s true.”

“But the scene… was bad.”

Alarion thought again of that private room.

The blood on the carpet.

The deep claw marks on the door.

A chill ran down his spine.

“I’m coming now.”

“And find out exactly why Celestine Sable died.”

“Now.”

After hanging up, he returned to the banquet building as fast as possible.

The lobby manager was reprimanding a waiter.

“That was Don Veyne’s Donna.”

“Whatever you saw, you will explain it clearly to the Veyne family’s lawyers later.”

The waiter only wiped at his tears, clearly terrified.

Alarion strode forward, forcing his tone under control.

“What did you see?”

“Tell me.”

The waiter lifted his head, trembling.

“I… I saw those men drag Donna into the room.”

“After that, there were sounds coming from inside the whole time.”

“They wouldn’t let me get close. They wouldn’t let me say anything.”

“Later, I saw Donna holding a shard of porcelain…”

“What?”

Alarion’s eyes widened instantly, and he nearly lost his balance.

So those men had never intended to apologize.

They had even hurt Virelle again.

And this time, he had been the one to send Virelle into that room with his own hands.

“How could this happen…”

His voice was so low it was almost inaudible.

“Where is Virelle?”

The waiter shook his head through his tears.

“I didn’t see anything after that.”

“The twentieth floor is a VIP floor. There are no cameras.”

“We didn’t dare go in.”

“When the door opened again, she was gone.”

Alarion clenched his fists, his whole body shaking.

“Then find those bastards for me.”

“Lock down the airports, the docks, and the highways.”

“Tonight, every Veyne informant in New York moves.”

“I want her found, alive or dead.”

Every bodyguard in the corridor lowered his head at once.

“Yes, Don.”

The lobby manager immediately sent people to contact the Veyne family lawyers and the police.

Alarion went downstairs with a dark expression and drove to find Ismeria.

His assistant had already sent Ismeria back to her apartment.

The moment she saw him return, she came forward.

“Alarion, why did you suddenly have your assistant send me back? What happened?”

The next second, Alarion grabbed her by the throat and slammed her against the wall.

“You don’t know what happened?”

His eyes were bloodshot.

“Didn’t those men say they were going to apologize?”

“Why did they hurt Virelle again?”

“What exactly did you do?”

Ismeria could barely breathe. Her face flushed red.

“Cough… I really don’t know…”

“How could I hurt Virelle?”

“She’s my best friend…”

After a long moment, Alarion finally released her.

He stared at her, the last trace of warmth gone from his eyes.

“Last chance.”

“Tell me the truth.”

Ismeria gasped for air, then finally forced herself to speak.

“I admit it. I told them to scare Virelle a little.”

“I only wanted her to stop clinging to what happened between us.”

“I didn’t tell them to hurt her.”

“Alarion, I really didn’t think they would do that.”

At those words, disappointment filled Alarion’s eyes.

Just as he was about to speak, his assistant called again.

“Don Veyne, we found out what happened.”

“Donna’s mother died of a sudden heart attack last night.”

“Before the attack, she received a pregnancy report.”

“The sender was Miss Vale.”

Alarion looked at Ismeria in shock.

The next second, he slapped her hard across the face.

“You deliberately killed V’s mother?”

“How dare you?”

Ismeria clutched her face, panicked too.

“I… I really didn’t know it would anger her mother to death.”

“I only wanted her to know I was carrying your child.”

“I only wanted to show off.”

“I didn’t think…”

“You have to believe me.”

“I would never do anything that extreme.”

“I really treated Virelle like a sister…”

Alarion gave a cold, mocking laugh.

“I told you that was your last chance.”

“I know I was wrong.” Ismeria panicked as well and grabbed his arm.

“The priority now is finding Virelle.”

“She really can’t be hurt.”

Alarion flung her hand away in disgust.

“Don’t ever touch me again.”

“You had better pray V is all right. Otherwise, even the Vale family won’t be able to protect you.”
