My Best Friend Slept With My Mafia Husband Chapter 05

## Alarion’s POV

The carpet in the VIP room was soaked scarlet, and signs of a struggle were everywhere.

The men were gone.

Virelle was gone too.

Alarion’s heart stopped.

He threw open every lounge inside, searching the wardrobes, the bathroom, and even the emergency passage behind the hidden door.

Still no Virelle.

His composure began to crack.

He pulled out his phone and dialed her number again and again.

No answer.

The cold automated voice repeated over and over, slicing through his nerves like a knife.

“Where is she?”

He spun around, his voice as cold as the barrel of a gun pressed to someone’s forehead.

The bodyguards outside the door all lowered their heads.

“Don Veyne, we… we don’t know.”

“You don’t know?” Alarion gave a low laugh, but there was no trace of humor in his eyes. “My Donna disappeared on my territory, and you’re telling me you don’t know?”

Alarion dislocated the bodyguard’s shoulder on the spot.

At the end of the hallway, a waiter heard the bodyguard’s scream and rushed over.

When he saw the room, his face went white with terror.

“Ah!”

“What happened here? Where are the people who were in this room?” Alarion’s eyes were already red with panic.

“Mr. Veyne, I… I really don’t know. I’ll call the police right away…”

“The police?”

Alarion grabbed him by the collar, his voice terrifyingly low.

“Do you think I need those useless men at the NYPD?”

The waiter trembled so badly he could barely stand.

Alarion had no patience left to keep questioning him.

Just as he was about to rush out and search for her, Ismeria hurried over.

Two Vale family bodyguards followed behind her.

She looked just as shocked.

“How could this happen? Virelle…”

For the first time, Alarion lost his temper with her.

“You brought those men here.”

“If anything has happened to V, I will make you regret it in the most terrifying way possible.”

A flash of panic crossed Ismeria’s eyes, but she quickly covered it with the perfect expression.

“Maybe… maybe Virelle is playing a prank?”

“She’s been holding a grudge over what happened between us, so she made this scene.”

Then she added one more sentence.

“I know her too well.”

Every time Alarion heard those words, he believed her.

But the room in front of him was too glaring.

So glaring that even Alarion could not convince himself immediately.

He stared hard at Ismeria.

“Are you telling the truth?”

Ismeria smiled unnaturally.

“Maybe she’ll show up in a while.”

“When she threw tantrums before, wasn’t she always like this? Hiding somewhere, waiting for you to coax her.”

Hearing that, Alarion nodded, half convinced and half doubtful.

“Dinner at the Plaza tonight.”

“We’ll explain everything clearly.”

“Including the child.”

Ismeria smiled and stroked her belly, pressing down the last trace of panic.

“By the way, I have a checkup today.”

Only then did Alarion seem to remember something. He raised a hand and pressed his brow.

“Fine.”

“Hospital first.”

On the way to the private hospital, Alarion kept checking his phone.

Only then did he notice Virelle had called him many times last night.

One call after another.

Every single one had been rejected.

His face darkened instantly.

“Did you reject all these calls?”

Ismeria leaned against the car window, no longer even bothering to hide it.

“We were having too much fun last night. I got carried away and rejected them all.”

Alarion’s heart lurched with panic, his expression turning ugly.

“I told you Virelle’s calls must be answered.”

“If there is a next time, you will never own a phone again.”

Ismeria’s eyes reddened at once, and she reached for his sleeve.

“I was just too afraid you would leave me.”

“Every time you hear her voice, you abandon me.”

“Alarion, I get scared too.”

Under her tearful, coquettish voice, Alarion’s anger was eventually suppressed.

When they arrived at the private hospital under the Veyne family’s name, Alarion had half the floor cleared.

While he waited with Ismeria for her checkup, he heard two nurses nearby whispering.

“That lady they brought in last night was so pitiful.”

“I heard she received a pregnancy report from her son-in-law’s mistress and had a heart attack on the spot. They couldn’t save her.”

“I think her name was… Celestine Sable?”

Alarion’s nerves went taut instantly.

Celestine Sable.

That was Virelle’s mother’s name.
