My Best Friend Bought Me a Cursed Life Chapter 09

My Best Friend Bought Me a Cursed Life Chapter 09 No Second Chance

I stumbled through the front door at midnight.

The Ragdoll perched rigidly in the doorway, her eyes glowing like shards of ice.

She thought I’d be destroyed. Instead, I’d walked out stronger–and put Sebastian in jail.

“Disappointed, Bella?” I crouched down. “You still don’t get it, do you? You thought exposing me would make Julian hate m you don’t understand him. And you never understood people.”

The cat curled back her lips in a snarl. She lunged for my throat.

No claws–I’d clipped them. But her teeth were sharp.

I didn’t move.

A hand shot out from behind me and caught her mid–air. Julian’s hand.

He held her by the scruff, his face set in a harder line than I’d ever seen.

“I knew there was something wrong with this cat,” he said quietly. “The way she looks at you. That’s not an animal. That’s an enemy.”

Snow thrashed in his grip, letting out a piercing shriek.

“Julian…” I breathed.

“Cecilia. From the moment we met, I sensed a strange magnetic connection between you and Snow,” He didn’t look away from t cat. “Is there something you haven’t told me?

I drew a shaky breath, then another, my chest tight with dread.

“What if I said there’s a ghost in that cat’s body. A woman who wants me dead. Would you believe me?”

Julian’s grip tightened.

“If you want her dead,” he said, “so do l.”

Snow’s struggles weakened.

Bella’s ghost poured out of the cat’s body like black smoke, coalescing into a human shape. Her face was twisted, unrecognizable.

“ELLA! I’LL KILL YOU! WE’LL DIE TOGETHER!”

She hurtled toward me, her twisted face contorted with rage.

Julian felt the icy chill of her rage wash over him and stepped in front of me, but i shoved him roughly aside.

Tripped a pendant from my neck – a weathered piece of antique jade I’d bought from a dim, shadowy mystic shop. I bit my tongue,

tasted blood, and spat on the stone.

“Bella White. You cursed me once. You won’t get a second chance:

The pendant blazed with searing, otherworldly light.

Bella screamed–a sound that rattled the windows–and dissolved like frost in the sunrise.

“Goodbye, Bella.”

The Ragdoll’s dead and then vanished.

The light dissipated. The room returned to calm.

As

Julian went pale, his eyes fixed on me in stunned disbelief. “Cecilia… what just happerted?”

I stepped into his arms.

“It’s over,” I whispered. “No one will ever separate us again.”
