My Best Friend Bought Me a Cursed Life Chapter 02

My Best Friend Bought Me a Cursed Life Chapter 02 I Run This House from Now on

The commotion sent Cecilia’s parents rushing in.

Richard and Margaret Astor stormed into the room to find their precious son kneeling in a pool of his own blood.

“Sebastian!” Margaret shrieked, throwing herself at him. Then she turned on me, eyes wild. “You ungrateful little bitch! I’ll tear you apart!”

She charged like a rabid animal, claws out.

Richard didn’t move at first, but his jaw clenched so tight the muscles bulged. He grabbed up a solid oak chair, his knuckles whitening.

Last time, Bella had three ribs broken here. She spent two weeks bedridden, then agreed to marry that old man just to make the agony end.

I didn’t move.

Margaret’s nails were an inch from my face when I spoke.

“I missed the artery with that first stab,” I said lightly. “Next time, I won’t.”

I twirled the bloody fruit knife between my fingers.

Margaret froze.

She was vicious, but also a spineless coward. And above all else, she was paralyzed with fear for her son.

“You–you’re threatening me?” she sputtered. “I’m your mother!”

“Lady, you’re barely human.” I smiled. “Sebastian owes half a million to the wrong people. Compounded daily, that’s eight hundred by tomorrow. You can’t sell me fast enough to cover it. So here’s the thing–if you break me, who’s going to marry that old bastard you’ve been drooling over?”

Richard lowered the chair.

He was a businessman–greedy, but not foolish enough to throw away a sure thing. His eyes narrowed “yu know about the marriage?”

“Walter Crawford. Sixty years old, three dead wives, a few coal mines.” I wiped the blade clean on the hem of a silk gown cushion “You took twenty million in bride money. The wedding’s next week.”

Richard’s expression hardened. “Then be smart. Pay your brother’s debt, walk down the aisle, and we’ll let

you eat at our table.

“No.”

“No?” Richard’s voice rose.

“I’ll pay Sebastian’s debts. I’ll even fix your cash flow problem” I tossed the knife onto the coffee table it clattered loudly the dead silence. “But I have one condition“.

Richard studied me. The old Cecilia was merk, timid, and afraid of her own shadow. The woman in bit of him was

else entirely.

“Name it.”

“From today on, I run this house.”

I stalked to the head of the sofa,/settled into the seat, and crossed my legs deliberately.

“And get Sebastian into rehab. Don’t think I don’t know what he’s been snorting.”

The room fell into a thick, suffocating silence.

Margaret opened her mouth to shriek again, but Richard held up a hand.

Then he laughed.

“Fine,” he said. “Fine, sweetheart. You want to run things? Run them. Just show me the money.”

I caught the cold, calculating glint behind his eyes.

Keep me calm. Make me pay. Then bind me tight and hand me over to Crawford.

Poor thing, he had no idea who he was dealing with.

In my last life, as a cat, I learned to hunt by watching humans. But before that? I was the financial world’s most infamous black widow. Every company I touched went under. Every man who crossed me lost everything.

This family wouldn’t just lose–they’d evaporate.
