My Alpha’s “Private Messages” Had an Audience of Two… Oops! Did I Ruin Their Lives? Chapter 09

Eden was freaking out while I sat there slowly sipping my tea.

“Stressing won’t help,” I handed her a cup. “Might as well drink something.”

She took it with a bitter laugh. “Let’s hope next time we’re not drinking water in Council.”

I didn’t respond. I knew what I was doing.

If Zander wanted to destroy me, I’d let him think he was winning.

Sometimes you gotta let people think they’ve won before you flip the table.

This war lasted three whole months.

No blood, but every hit went straight for the heart.

Every time Zander thought he had me cornered, I found a way to get back up.

The night before everything came out, Nyx called me.

“Aria,” her voice was soft and smug, “how’s it feel waking up every day knowing everything’s about to collapse?”

I didn’t answer.

“I’m not calling to feel sorry for you. Just wanted to share some good news-your alliance won’t make it past tomorrow. Thought you deserved to know. Oh, and I’ll be with Zander soon.”

Then she told me something I’d suspected for a long time.

Years ago, when I lost our pup, it wasn’t an accident.

She did it.

She’d cried and begged, pleading with Zander not to let me have his child. And he went along with it.

she laughed. “Zander can’t see you. Nobody cares about you anyway. If you had any sense, you’d just disappear from this world.”

said slowly. “Nyx, trash belongs in the dumpster. You and Zander are perfect for each other.”

ected it before. But hearing it from her mouth was different.

Still, those words freed me completely.

If he could throw away his own pup, I didn’t owe him shit.

The next morning at dawn, I got a message:

[Gramm Pack Officially Disbanded; Alpha Zander Grimm Faces Massive Debt]

I picked up my wine glass and swirled it slowly.

For three months, I kept my head down low, letting him think he had it in the bag.

I knew him too well. Greedy and impatient. He borrowed a mountain of debt to kill me

When he finally went for the kill shot, I struck first.

Nyx, who’d been gloating the night before, completely broke down.

She’d bet everything she had. Lost it all.

She ran to confront Zander, and he finally showed his true face, throwing the truth right at her.

Nyx lost her mind. She shifted into her wolf form right there in his office, snarling and snapping at him before bolting out.

She ran through the streets in wolf form, completely feral. The hunters had to put her down like the rabid animal she’d become

She died whimpering in the gutter, still calling his name.

Zander sat alone in the packhouse we’d built together all those years ago.

Outside, rival Alphas were howling victory calls. Inside, it was quiet as a tomb.

His pack members had all scattered to other territories.

This empty shell was finally his alone.

He stared at our mating ceremony photo on the desk. The two people in it smiled so fake, like they were mocking him.

He reached out and gently touched my face in the picture, mouth twisting into an empty smile:

“Aria.. losing to you… doesn’t seem so bad.”

Outside the door, rival wolves broke in to claim the territory.

Zander shifted one last time.

The sound of snarling, then silence.

That final howl of defeat…

Went off at the exact same moment as the celebration howls from my startup trade alliance.
