My Alpha Married My Best Friend Over a Game Chapter 08

He froze.

The last time I’d gone to the temple with him, full of hope, the Alpha badge he carried had been fake.

He’d only done it to get through his cruel bet with Charlotte. He never imagined that his own lies would

come back to haunt him./

Clive closed his eyes in pain and wiped his haggard face hard.

“It’s real. You can come with me to verify it!”

“I’ve also cut ties with Charlotte. I kicked her out of The Ironthorn Pack and cleared up all the rumors!”

Rumors?

I looked at the expectation on his face, like he wanted praise, and felt a cold wave of nausea.

I let out a very soft, cold laugh. “But those are things you should have done in the first place.”

He panicked and pulled out more things. “I know you wanted back the things Charlotte took. I got them all

back for you.”

“I bought an identical obsidian necklace. It’s just…” He paused. “Your mom’s brooch was broken by her. I

had someone repair it. The crack is almost invisible!”,

“I also found out who attacked you. They were all hired by Charlotte. I’ve dealt with them!”

Something in me moved. I reached out.

There was indeed a small crack on the side of the gemstone brooch. Not obvious, but visible.

When I took the things, joy flashed across Alpha Clive’s face.

But before he could enjoy it, I threw the necklace into the trash and kept only the brooch.

“Clive, no matter how perfectly it’s repaired, the crack is still there. Just like what happened between us.

Even if you apologize, the damage remains.”

“There’s no going back for us.”

I didn’t want to deal with him anymore.

“No! You’re not leaving!” Clive lost control and grabbed my wrist hard

“Let go!” Rage rose in me. I was about to struggle free when a tall, broad shadow fell over us.

It was Theodore. He hadn’t left.

After checking carefully that ‘wasn’t hurt, he explained, “I was going to leave after you went inside, but I saw you two arguing. I was afraid something might happen.”

Then he looked at Clive. “Can’t you see she doesn’t want to talk to you?”

Clive’s face turned ugly at the sight of Theodore. He demanded, “You won’t come back with me because

of this man?”

“How long has it been, and you’ve already found someone new? Did you betray me long before I ever saw

it?!”

His baseless accusations were almost funny.

“Alpha Clive, do you think everyone is like you, enjoying two women fighting over you? He’s just my

supervisor. Can you keep your mind out of the gutter?”

He knew he’d said the wrong thing and lowered his voice. “I just panicked. It’s because I love you too

much…”

A scoff cut him off. Theodore said mockingly, “So you’re the cheating Alpha who loves playing the statue

game?”

Veins bulged at Clive’s temple. He tried to say something, but Theodore grabbed him by the collar and

pulled him away.

“Get lost. Don’t come here and disgust people.”

Clive tried to say more, but the patrol arrived.

“Didn’t you say you were coming in to find a friend? Why are you still here?”

I looked at the patrol member. “I don’t know him. Don’t let him in again.”

Alpha Clive was thrown out. Before he left, he said he would make me forgive him.

Theodore said with disdain, “He really has no shame.”

I smiled and said nothing.
