I spent the entire night in Rowan’s room.

His little bed had already been stripped bare.

The faint scent that had always belonged to my son had disappeared.

Even the glow-in-the-dark stars he’d stuck across the wall had been torn down, leaving behind tiny scars where the adhesive had once clung.

Just like the scars carved into my heart.

At sunrise, I left Alpha Manor without another word.

I drove straight to Pack Headquarters and headed directly for Elara’s private infirmary.

For twelve years, no matter how badly I was injured, no matter how coldly I ignored her in public, this place had always been my sanctuary.

The one place where warm lights never went out. The one place where worried eyes always waited for me.

I shoved the door open.

Bang!

I froze.

The neatly arranged medicine cabinets were gone. The familiar operating table was gone.

In their place stood towering vanity mirrors. An oversized dressing table overflowed with expensive cosmetics.

Several workers knelt on the floor, rolling out a fluffy pink rug.

“What are you doing?!” My roar shook the room.

The mirrors rattled violently against the walls. The workers immediately collapsed to their knees.

“A-Alpha! It was Lady Celeste’s order!”

“She said the location and lighting were perfect. So she decided to turn this infirmary into her personal dressing room.”

A dressing room?

She had transformed a place where lives were saved into her own powder room?

The veins in my temples throbbed violently.

My wolf snarled beneath my skin. It was seconds away from breaking free.

Then, something caught my eye.

A dented trash can sat in the corner.

Beside a pile of broken furniture, several crumpled white pages lay on the floor.

I walked over.

My hands trembled as I picked them up.

Carefully, I smoothed them flat.

The title burned into my eyes.

I froze.

My gaze dropped to the last page.

There was my own signature.

That night, I hadn’t even looked at the document.

I was in a hurry to see Celeste.

I signed it without reading a single word. Then casually threw it aside like trash.

I was the one who signed the document that set Elara free.

I severed the final bond between us.

A beast-like roar tore from my throat.

I overturned the vanity table with one violent shove.

Perfume bottles shattered across the floor. Expensive cosmetics scattered everywhere.

The overpowering fragrance filled the room, mixing with the suffocating despair choking my lungs.

I couldn’t breathe.

Inside me, my wolf howled without end.

It blamed me. It hated me.

It wanted its mate. It wanted its cub.

I had to find them.

Now. Immediately.

I didn’t care if I had to crawl. I didn’t care if I had to beg.

I would bring them home.

I spun toward the elevator and slammed the button for the rooftop helipad.

“Kael! Where are you going?”

The elevator doors slid open. Celeste stood inside, blocking my path. She had clearly heard the commotion.

Several elders from the Ravenwood Pack stood behind her.

“The merger meeting is about to begin. We still have the final agreement to sign.”

She frowned after seeing the destruction behind me.

“What happened? You destroyed my dressing room?”

Her expression darkened.

“Don’t tell me you’re still obsessing over that woman.”

“Move.” I didn’t even look at her.

“You can’t leave.”

She spread both arms across the elevator entrance. Her voice turned sharp.

“Have you forgotten our alliance? If you walk away now, the Ravenwood Pack will withdraw every investment. You’ll lose everything.”

“The alliance?” I stopped.

Slowly, I lifted my head.

My eyes had already turned completely golden.

My wolf surged forward.

The overwhelming Alpha aura burst from my body.

The crushing pressure slammed into Celeste.

She couldn’t withstand it.

Her knees buckled instantly. She collapsed hard onto the floor.

The Ravenwood elders behind her were forced to kneel.

Sweat streamed down their faces. Their wolves whimpered beneath the pressure.

“You’re threatening me with that pathetic alliance?”

I walked toward her.

Looking down at the woman I’d once believed was my perfect match.

Now, she wasn’t even worth the dust beneath my feet.

“Because of that alliance, I lost my mate. I lost my son.”

I leaned close. My voice was colder than death.

“Listen carefully, Celeste. The mating ceremony is canceled. The alliance is canceled. And you can go to hell with it.”

“You’ll regret this!” She glared at me through clenched teeth.

“Without the Ravenwood Pack, you’re nothing in the Alliance!”

I laughed.

“Then let me be nothing.”

I stepped past her and entered the elevator.

Behind me, Celeste’s hysterical screams echoed through the hallway.

“Kael! You’ll come crawling back!”

I never looked back.

At the Royal Airfield, my Beta, Damon, was already waiting.

“Alpha. The aircraft is ready.”

I boarded immediately. “Have you found Elara Whitmore?”

“We’ve uncovered several leads.” Damon handed me a tablet.

“According to our contacts in Avaloria, Lady Elara was personally escorted by Duke Lucien Valmont to Valmont Palace.”

Valmont Palace. The heart of the Royal Lycan Court.

“Give me the exact address.”

Damon hesitated.

“…That’s the problem. The Royal Lycan Court’s security is impenetrable. Our people haven’t managed to get inside.”

I grabbed him by the collar. My eyes flashed blood-red as my wolf threatened to tear free completely.

“I don’t care what it takes. Search every corner of Avaloria if you have to.”

“Find Elara. Now.”
