My Alpha Family Faked Their Deaths to Punish Me? Well… See What Your ‘Punishment’ Has Destroyed Chapter 06

Deep guilt flooded Tessa’s eyes.

“Raina, please stop being angry. We were wrong before. But we’ll change.”

“From now on, you can spend money however you want. We’ll get you whatever you want.”

“Yes, exactly!” my mother blurted out, as if suddenly remembering something. “We’re heading out right now to buy you everything you ever wanted!”

She grabbed my father and dragged him out of the room, giving him no chance to argue.

Tessa sat by my bed, her eyes tracing my pale face with heartache.

“Raina, I know we hurt you. But from now on, we won’t keep making the same mistake.”

“Don’t worry about your illness either. Our family isn’t short on cash. I’ll find the best healers and the best medicine for you.”

“Why only now?” I let out a mocking laugh.

“You care because you see me sick. What if I weren’t sick?”

“How much longer were you planning to punish me?”

“We never thought you’d go to such lengths for the family…” Tessa’s voice cracked. “Everything we did these past five years was for your own good.”

“We were afraid of spoiling you, afraid you wouldn’t be able to handle hardships in the future.”

“You know what?” I said softly. “Our family has more money than we could ever spend in a lifetime.”

My nose stung, and tears slipped from the corners of my eyes.

“Just because Mom and Dad had it rough when they were young, you wanted me to be thrifty too.”

“But did I ever throw money away recklessly?”

“In our social circles, wasn’t I already considered the most financially responsible one?”

“Raina, what kind of gift do you want? Let me buy it for you, okay?”

She quickly changed the subject, pulling out a tissue to dab away my tears.

“Just tell me what you want, and I’ll get it. No matter what it is!”

“Forget it. You already gave what I wanted to Greta.” I turned my head to avoid her hand, letting out a hollow scoff. “Right now, all I want is to stay alive.”

Her breath caught, leaving her entirely speechless. Only her deeply apologetic gaze remained fixed on my face.

After a long while, the hospital room door pushed open again.

Our parents walked in, carrying a mountain of shopping bags and forcing tight smiles. “Raina, come look! See if there’s anything you like!”

They began pulling out items one by one to show me.

“The latest phone model, a limited-edition bag, and that necklace you wanted before…”

They listed over a dozen items in one breath, but my expression remained completely flat. I didn’t glance at them once.

My mother’s voice gradually faded into a whisper.

Finally, she began to sob again.

“Raina, just tell us what you want, okay? Please don’t ignore me…”

I finally spoke, my voice barely above a whisper.

“Take me to the movie set. There’s something I need to do.”
