My $10M Supercar, Her Pink Cat Nest Chapter 02

My $10M Supercar, Her Pink Cat Nest Chapter 02 Riding In
After the wedding, I used the Sterling family’s money, connections, and resources to quietly fill the holes in Bennett Group.
In just three years, I dragged a failing small company all the way to a public listing.
Back then, my mother-in-law had praised me every chance she got.
Now she acted as if she owned me.
And my husband, who had once treated me with polite distance, had grown bold enough to give my belongings away whenever he pleased.
It seemed that after the Bennett family got comfortable, they forgot who helped them stand up in the first place.
The Sterling family’s assets and influence were far beyond anything they could imagine.
If they dared start getting clever with me, I had no problem taking back every piece of glory they now enjoyed.
Half an hour passed.
Conrad still had not replied.
I was about to call him and demand an answer when my assistant sent me several more messages.
“Mrs. Bennett, Mr. Bennett took his secretary to a high-end business reception. Almost everyone there thinks she’s his new girlfriend.”
A photo came with the message.
Conrad stood in an expensive custom suit, smiling and chatting with several major figures in the industry.
Right beside him was Fiona Lane, dressed head to toe in designer brands.
Her jewelry was obviously expensive. Her smile was soft and seductive, and the smugness in her eyes was impossible to hide.
She stood next to Conrad with the ease of a hostess.
I gripped my phone until my knuckles turned white.
I knew that reception.
It was hosted jointly by several old-money business groups, and the entry threshold was extremely high.
At events of that level, the woman beside Conrad should have been me.
His wife.
The Sterling Group heiress.
But he had not even told me about it.
Instead, he had brought Fiona, a secretary, in my place.
Conrad Bennett, you really had some nerve.
Heat rushed straight to my head.
I made my decision almost immediately.
I turned to my household manager and said, “Go to the riding estate and bring me a horse. I’m going to that reception.”
He looked confused. “Mrs. Bennett, do you mean you want a car prepared… and a horse?”
“No. Just the horse. I’m riding there.”
He froze for a second, then nodded and left.
Ten minutes later, I was on horseback, heading straight for the venue.
When I arrived at the entrance, I did not dismount.
I rode in.
As the Sterling Group heiress, I had enough status that no one along the way dared step forward and stop me.
A staff member led me to the main hall.
I spotted Conrad and Fiona at once.
They stood together, laughing and talking, looking far too happy.
Anyone who did not know the truth would have thought they were the married couple.
I tightened the reins and stopped the horse.
Its sharp neigh pulled every guest’s attention toward me.
Conrad looked up.
The moment he saw me, the smile froze on his face.
It took him a long moment to register that I had arrived on horseback.
His brows pulled together, and he strode toward me.
“Why are you here? And why did you ride a horse in? What are you trying to do?”
He grabbed the reins and tried to lead me away.
The horse did not move an inch.
I looked down at him with an easy smile that held no warmth.
“What’s wrong? You can attend a reception, but your wife can’t? I didn’t see any rule saying horses weren’t allowed. The staff didn’t stop me, so where exactly are you trying to drag my horse?”
He let go of the reins.
Still, he lowered his voice and warned me, “I’m here to discuss business. Don’t make trouble.”
I smiled wider and asked loudly, “Business? Really? Because all I saw was you getting cozy with your secretary. Or is the business you’re discussing which hotel you two should book after you get drunk tonight?”
